Ghostery Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Seems to do a good job in preventing 3rd parties from spying on you. However, some 3rd party data grabbers need to be enabled for some pages to work (i.e. videos, other functions).

Highly recommendable Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Effective, user-friendly, gives me choices. Can't imagine any reason not to have it.

Does the job Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does a good job -- have used Ghostery for a long time. Some web sites insist that you disable some of its blocking. I will look at what Ghostery has blocked and if it says, "critical to functioning of web site," I will allow that feature.

GHOSTERY Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Seems to do something, but I think it slows everything down.

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Installed and tried it.

The pop-up message style was quite nice, but I found the privacy agreement for the add-on to be extremely unsatisfactory.

Also, the fact that to change my settings I had to actually access the Ghostery site over the Internet instead of doing it locally was a big minus.

Another big minus was that as default it allows first-party trackers AND allows Ghostery to send users messages concerning "Ghostery products". The fact that these can be turned off does not make this less of a minus for most users who may not even access the settings.

All in all I feel there are other similar add-ons with better features, better privacy settings and policies and the savvy and security-conscious user should (and will) choose them.

Ghostery 6.3 Beta Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I happen to like the beta version. Can place the purple oval at the bottom of the screen. Can change the settings on an as needed basis. Have used this add-on in FF for many years.

A bit of a pain to configure, but definitely worth it.

Great for those annoying trackers Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using this for YEARS and every update has things added I didn't realize I needed. Love this app.

Excellent blocker, sometimes too good Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Installed and used for several years on my Mac and PC. Works flawlessly for the most part. Sometimes, websites will not work unless paused but this is a minor inconvenience. Custom settings by user.

Excellent Product Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This product greatly reduces the crap that is invading the internet. It takes a bit of time to learn how to access the pages your want without accessing ALL of their tracking packages. Well worth giving the developers financial and social support!

Great Add On!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using Ghostery for years. I love to know about and block trackers. Ghostery does a great job of helping me with that.

Most awesome add-on Rated 5 out of 5 stars

My internet experienced was totally hosed until I put Ghostery on.
Any negative reviews,, IMHO,, are either written by morons or a mole,, What we need is a really good mole trap,, :-)

Losing focus Rated 2 out of 5 stars

This extension used to be about blocking trackers; now, the first thing it does after installation is open a new tab that goes to a webpage to configure it (why not offline like before?), with Google Analytics, Google Fonts, and a "Cookie Consent". It gets harder and harder to configure as 99% of the users want with each revision, with dubious UI choices like removing the "select all" options.

It feels like a bait-and-switch for a long-time user like me. I cannot recommend it anymore.

Apart from that, it still works as advertised... I think...

Not a fan of the new UI (ver6 +). Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Since the new V6 has come out I do not care for it or recommend it. If you are going to use I would recommend an older version of ghostery.
