by browser.tech, 4 years agoI tried SingleFile briefly. It works. Looks like a well thought out and put together addon.
One thing I noticed, when you have the option enabled for "include the info bar in the saved page," the page actually shows a floating icon in the upper corner. If you click on this icon a flyout will indicate the time the page was saved, then if you hover over a tiny button on the flyout the original URL will popup. Clicking the tiny button takes you to the original URL.
This all looks nice, but I prefer the way Save Page WE does it. Save Page displays a fixed header bar with the full URL and time the page was saved. For someone like me who's always paying attention to the URL bar this is nicer. It's easier to understand that the page you're viewing is an archive, and easier to get to the original page with a single click.
Note that both the floating icon in SingleFile and the header bar in Save Page WE can be closed.
I also notice that neither SingleFile or Save Page WE works in FireFox reader view. A small thing, but it would be nice. That's what I was really looking for when I tried SingleFile.

posted 4 years agoThanks for the review. It is technically impossible to make an add-on run in the reader view. However, you can format the page, as the reader view does, in the annotation editor by clicking the button "format the page for better readability" (page with glasses icon) when present.

- Rated 5 out of 5by halic, 8 days agoThis is an outstanding addon that makes an excellent quality PDF from any webpage of your choice. The beauty is that it makes a pretty much perfect copy of the website, and saves it to your desktop as an html file. That file can then be turned into high quality Pdf by opening it in a browser, and using the browsers ‘Print function/menu’ to save it locally, as a Pdf. So, brilliant right? Well yes, but there is a problem. Previous to a week ago, all SingleFile Pdf’s were saved using OCR. In other words, the Pdf created was an editable [copy and paste from the Pdf] document. Of late, I have noticed that this is no longer the case. All my latest saved Pdf’s using the SingleFile addon are now saved as image-Pdf's 😒 instead of 'true' editable Pdf's. Can this be fixed? Otherwise ❤ your Addon, thank you. *UPDATE* - After 're-jigging' my firefox installation + a reboot or two, the issue is resolved [as the dev suggested it would be]. So I am all chuffed again now, and have re-rated this great addon with 5 stars 😊 Thank you for your prompt response👍

posted 8 days agoThank you for the review! The behavior/bug you describe is not related to SingleFile but rather to Firefox. The only thing that could be causing this problem from my point of view would be related to the settings in the “File format” section of the options page in SingleFile. You have to make sure the file format is “HTML”. You can also reset the settings to see if it fixes the issue.
UPDATE - I'm glad to hear the issue is resolved! 😊 - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14643647, 10 days ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18504599, 14 days agoI have never registered a Firefox account, but I have been using the plug-in you wrote for a year. The "save webpage" function that comes with Firefox or Google Chrome is very ineffective and will export a bunch of code with unclear meaning, while your plug-in will export a complete HTML document.
Some websites prohibit copying of its content, use your plugin to save first and then copy, this works great! - Rated 5 out of 5by Gummi, 15 days ago

posted 2 months agoThis should be possible by enabling 'File name > open the "Save as" dialog to confirm the file name' or by disabling 'Misc. > save pages in background' in the options page of SingleFile. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17504437, 2 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15347543, 2 months agoThis functionality should be provided by browsers as a default. They don't, so this app fills the gap.
Functions as expected. Thanks! - Rated 3 out of 5by e2t, 2 months agoIt's little boring to disable an addon icon from tab context menu every time manually.

posted 2 months agoWhat are you referring to? I don't think I can fix this problem. However, note that you can use keyboard shortcuts. - Rated 5 out of 5by molitar, 2 months agoFirst thing that has worked to save a page that had two frames with tables in it!
