Privacy Policy for Marklet
Effective Date: March 20, 2026
Your privacy is a top priority for Marklet. This Privacy Policy describes how Marklet handles your information.
1. No Data Collection
Marklet does not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on external servers. We do not track your browsing history, your identity, or any other personal information.
2. Local Storage
All information you save using Marklet (text snippets, page titles, and URLs) is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage.local API. This data never leaves your computer and is not accessible by the developers of Marklet or any third party.
3. Permissions Justification
Marklet requires specific permissions to function correctly:
- contextMenus: Used to provide the right-click "Save with Marklet" option.
- storage: Used to save your bookmarks on your device so they are available across browser sessions.
- Host Permissions (<all_urls>): Used to enable the "Jump back" feature, allowing the extension to scroll to and highlight saved text on the original webpage.
4. Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally, you have full control over it. You can delete individual bookmarks or clear all data at any time through the extension's popup interface. Uninstalling the extension will also remove all locally stored data associated with it.
5. Changes to This Policy
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this document. However, our commitment to your privacy and local-first data storage will remain a core principle of the app.
6. Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact the developer through the extension's support channel.
