Cleantainer clears browsing data while respecting the boundaries between your container tabs, so sanitizing your browser session no longer has to be an all-or-nothing proposition. With Cleantainer, you can use some of your container tabs for disposable “forget about me” browsing and others for your persistent identities and logins.

Cleantainer provides the fastest “clean my container” flow of any extension: Just open the popup, then double-click the container you want to clean—no need for complex configuration options or blocklists. Advanced users can pin and reorder frequently cleaned containers and define custom keyboard shortcuts. Cleantainer also supports the builtin “no” container and the container used for Private Browsing windows.

Cleantainer deletes cookies, localStorage, IndexedDB, and (from Firefox 146) sessionStorage. In general, cleaning a container will never be as effective as deleting and recreating it—or using the browser’s native browsing data cleaner—but this technique is still effective enough to defeat most forms of identity tracking, such as YouTube recommendations.

Optional permissions:

• Run in Private Windows: Make the extension icon visible in Private Browsing windows. (Cleantainer can always clean cookies and sessionStorage from the Private Browsing container, even if you withhold this permission.)
• Display notifications to you: When enabled, keyboard shortcuts will also show desktop notifications.

Cleantainer is proudly free and open-source and never collects your data.
