What you see

• A price on each running instance, such as "~$47/month".
• A total for the instances on the page, in the Instance type heading.
• A short reason instead of a price when there is none to show: stopped, terminated, spot, dedicated, or not in AWS's price list.

What the price includes

Compute and the public IPv4 address, at AWS's on-demand list price, running the whole month. The price follows the exact operating system and licence of the instance, so a Windows instance gets the Windows rate.

What it does not include

Storage, data transfer, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, discounts and the Free Tier. Your bill can be lower than the list price.

Before the first price

The price needs a few columns the console hides by default. Click "click to show price" and AWSCost turns them on in the table's own settings.

Prices stay current

Once a day AWSCost asks its own server, prices.awscost.fyi, for the price file for the region you are viewing. The file is built from AWS's public price list. If prices are more than 3 days old, each one is marked with a *.

Limits

• The EC2 instances list only.
• The console must be in English.
• Every standard AWS region. GovCloud and China are not covered.

Privacy

AWSCost reads the instance table in your browser and never sends it anywhere. It never touches your AWS account. That daily request carries only the region and the extension's version, and nothing about it is recorded. Full policy: https://awscost.fyi/privacy
