MeTube Downloader

MeTube Downloader is a Firefox extension that integrates YouTube with a self-hosted MeTube instance.

The extension allows users to send the currently opened YouTube video directly to MeTube without manually copying and pasting the URL into the MeTube web interface.

How It Works

When a YouTube video page is open, the extension button becomes available.

Clicking the button will:

1. Capture the current YouTube video URL.
2. Send a POST request to the configured MeTube server.
3. Add the video to the MeTube download queue.
4. Display a status badge indicating success or failure.

Configuration

The extension provides a settings page where users can configure:

• MeTube server address
• Badge timeout
• Preferred video quality
• Preferred output format

Requirements

• Mozilla Firefox
• A running MeTube instance
• Network access between Firefox and the MeTube server
• HTTPS-enabled MeTube server (recommended)

Privacy

This extension only reads the URL of the currently active YouTube tab when the user clicks the extension button.

The captured URL is sent exclusively to the MeTube server configured by the user.

No analytics, tracking, telemetry, advertising, or third-party data collection is performed by this extension.
