Features:
📁 Give every part of your day its own workspace — Work, Personal, whatever you need
📁 Switch workspaces instantly; the other tabs hide without closing and wait for you
📁 Tab groups, pinned tabs, and nested tab trees, all organized per workspace
📁 Middle-click any tab, group, or workspace to unload it and free up memory
📁 Search every workspace at once and jump straight to the tab you meant
📁 Undo and Redo your sidebar changes, like closes and moves
📁 Snapshots save your whole setup — on a schedule or whenever you want
📁 Import your bookmarks into a workspace, with a group for each folder
📁 Optional Firefox container support, with a default container per workspace
📁 Make it yours: 40 icons plus your own images, colors, gradients, and four sizes
Terminus lives in your Firefox sidebar. A narrow rail of workspace icons sits beside your tabs, and clicking a workspace swaps your whole tab set in one go — the tabs you leave behind aren't closed, they're just hidden, exactly where you left them when you come back. Each window remembers its own workspace, even after a restart.
The part you'll stop thinking about (in a good way) is snapshots. Terminus can quietly save your workspaces, tabs, and window layout on a schedule, and one automatic snapshot from before startup is kept safe until you delete it. Restored tabs come back unloaded, so even a giant snapshot opens without loading a thousand pages at once. Restore everything, one window, or just the tabs you pick.
And a promise: Terminus has no account, no server, no sync, no ads, and no analytics. Your tabs are your business — everything stays in your Firefox profile, it never reads the pages you visit, and the only thing it ever downloads is a website's icon. The privacy policy spells out every permission and why it exists.
Changelog
Version 0.1.0 - Sep 23rd, 2026
- First release!
- Workspaces with tab groups, pins, and tab trees
- Snapshots, scheduled saves, and gentle restores
- Tab search, unloading, Undo and Redo
- Bookmark import and Firefox container support
- Custom icons, colors, gradients, and size presets
Version 0.1.1 - Sep 24th, 2026
- New tabs fit neatly into your tab trees instead of creating strange nested trees
- Dragging tabs is much easier: drop between, above, or below any tab, even with several selected
- Drag a tab to the left to pull it out of a tree
- Icons Only: search no longer blanks the sidebar, and hovering a tile shows its name
- Icons Only: child tabs show how deeply they're nested, and the expand arrow is easier to hit
Version 0.1.2 - Sep 28th, 2026
- The optional style sheet now also hides Firefox's icon strip beside the sidebar. Download it again from Optional Firefox Styling in Settings
Version 0.1.3 - Sep 29th, 2026
- Fixed removing workspaces and taking snapshots failing when tabs are in Firefox containers while container support is off. Snapshots now always record each tab's container
- When something is refused, the message now says why instead of a generic error
- Tab trees saved by older versions keep their shape: a top-level tab is never pulled inside a collapsed tree
- One damaged saved record no longer breaks the whole snapshot list; a damaged settings backup is shown so you can delete it
- Private snapshot files exported by early versions import again
- A container Firefox briefly loses track of no longer forgets it was a workspace's default
