- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14122237, 4 years agoI have a tendency to build up many tabs at once. My max has been roughly around 200 tabs open at once.
I was curious today and found this extension to check my current number.. I have 470 tabs open.......
I think it's time to clean some out. - Rated 5 out of 5by bluesun, 4 years agoSince I keep a number of tabs open and can't find a post v57 extension that lets me keep multiple rows of all open tabs, its easy to get lost when tabs are scrolled horizontally off screen. This is a handy little reminder there are out-of-sight tabs.
Note, waterfox (branched from FF v56) supports all legacy functions and extensions, including an extension to use multiple tab rows & also to place tabs below the bookmarks (vastly clearer UI I can't understand why FF v57 dropped). Try Waterfox for support of all modern add-ons and all your favorite legacy ones. It shares the profile with FF and gives you back your old favorite add-ons and more. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12807353, 4 years agoI'm all about the simple yet highly effective tools. It tells you how many tabs you have open. That's it. I'm always surprised to see that I keep so many tabs open. Now, when I see a high number, it reminds me to pare down and close a number of tabs.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15200744, 4 years agoLike others I tend to accumulate a lot of Tabs as I browse and I find this Add-On to be very useful in helping me know just how many are open.
It's also reassuring to know that it doesn't require any permissions.
I read earlier that the Tab Count font size could not be increased due to Firefox's developer restrictions and so I have chosen to have red text on a white background for increased readability as was suggested by the developer.
I like the fact that the counter updates in real time eg. when I issue a command to Close tabs on the right, I can keep an eye the count as it decreases (my tab count can be quite high).
In these days of increased RAM and increased Tabs, this extension genuinely fills a gap. - Rated 5 out of 5by Aditya, 4 years ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14295862, 5 years agoReally well executed extension. This thing stays out of the way but lets me know how things are going. On browser restart if you have 70 to 700 tabs it takes a while to catch up and there is some update lag when you delete tabs to clean up but that is most likely not a problem with this extension (more like a problem of having too many tabs open :-)).
I have a list of 7 extensions I always install and this is number 3! - Rated 5 out of 5by Soustruh, 5 years ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Nikita, 6 years agoSimple tab counter you can drag and drop anywhere on menu bar and customize the color scheme too. Does what I wanted it to do.
- Rated 5 out of 5by M., 6 years agoWorks great! But how can I add the badge to the titlebar as in your screenshots (FF62)?
- Rated 5 out of 5by KT, 6 years agoNow I don't have to COUNT how many tabs I have open but just with a look can see that I have 31 tabs open and I should go through them and close some. Thanks! :) What I like about this one more than the others is that it is by the tabs so doesn't make the spot with the other addons longer.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Arragon99, 6 years agoAm I wrong or are in version 0.4.0 no possibilities to configure it? I do not see any settings options. I am using Firefox 62.0.3. Currently it shows only the open tabs separate for each window, no window count together with tabs count like in your first image. I only see the correct counts when moving over the icon or clicking on it. Will be the full featured version only available for Firefox 63? Add info: I updated Tab counter from last version to 0.4.0.
** Update 16.10.2018 **
got update for 0.4.1. Noticed still missing option of add-on in Firefox 62.0.3 Add-On Manager view. Removed the add-on and reinstalled it and, voila, the options of the add-on are back. I do not know what happened that the view of options in the add-on manager view has been dismissed, but anyway.. now full 5 stars for my needs. Thx for your workDeveloper response
posted 6 years agoHi Arragon99,
I actually removed this feature in v0.3.0. You must have upgraded from v0.2.2 to v0.4.0. I removed the "both" feature that shows the tabs and windows with a slash between them because many users were reporting an "issue" where the numbers were cut off. Firefox limits the amount of characters shown to 4 (including the slash). I was not aware that anyone used the feature, as there were no complaints after releasing v0.3.0. To protect user privacy, I do not collect analytics on how users configure the addon.
I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and I will release version v0.4.1 that brings back the "both" option.
Thank you,
Perry
UPDATE: I have released v0.4.1: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-counter-webext/versions/?page=1#version-0.4.1 - Rated 5 out of 5by Patrice, 6 years agoNo permission asked = 11/10 or an easy 6 star
Once installed I got scared when i saw that i have more than 350 tabs open, but i was not really surprised... ;)
It does just one thing (total number of tabs), but it does it smoothly and well.
Simple and effective! well implemented with the FireFox UI without disturbing your eyes.
Strongly recommended to those who need to scroll horizontally to switch between tabs...
Thanks a lot to the developer/Perry - Rated 5 out of 5by Mylaur, 6 years ago
