I Heart Foxy Proxy Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have been using Foxy Proxy since August 2009 - I used the paid service for a US Proxy and for someone pretty non-computer literate, it has been easy. Recently I started having some problems when I logged onto US Network TV websites saying I was outside of the US. I thought it was my proxy service and I contacted Eric and his team at Leah Scape and got amazing customer service - like within a few minutes of asking my question. They got me set up on a new server to see if that would fix the problem. It turns out it wasn't their service but a virus I downloaded (most likely Antivirus System Pro) that was messing with my settings.

Anyway - I love Foxy Proxy!

Ver. 2.18 Problems. Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I have been using this add on for sometime and never had any problems. Since upgrading to this latest version 2.18, Firefox has become slower, much slower to the point where a simple matter of clicking on a menu bar takes over 1 a minute to show up. It even makes Firefox not responding for a few minutes. Even the speed of browsing is almost at a complete stop. All of this with web sites not requiring to go through a proxy. I disabled foxy-proxy through its setting, the performance became normal for a few minutes and then the same problem happened. I totally removed foxy-proxy and restarted Firefox and have not had any problems since. I will definitely go back to the older version and post an update. This add-on when it is working properly deserves 5 stars.

Are you certain? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This is extremely complex. If anonymity is truly important to you, do not use this unless you're absolutely certain that you are using it correctly! Although very slow, Tor , is SIMPLE protection - just as long as you 1) use the Tor Button [specifically designed for Firefox], 2) disable Java, Java Script, and other plug-ins and addons as needed by using the Firefox addon NoScript, and 3) open to a proxy testing site that shows your apparent location [so you KNOW that you're protected]. --- Browsers don't work very well after you disable Java, Java Script, Etc.; so it's advisable to have two browsers (one normal and one anonymous). For this purpose, you may wish to use this . . . ; a Firefox 'clone' that accepts the Tor Button and NoScript - as well as many other Firefox addons.

Way Too Complicated Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I have no doubt that this would be immensley useful for many out there but for me it is just too over the top complicated. All I want to do is switch between proxy 1, proxy 2 and no proxy
Overkill for me.

I can't save my "QuickAdd" settings, it always turned off after I closed the browser for 2 or 3 times, or after I closed the browser several hours later.

Sorry for the trouble.

It would be nice to save status bar space by disabling "FoxyProxy" word.
Now it shows "FoxyProxy:Default" or "FoxyProxy:Proxy1".
Having "Default" or "Proxy1" only would be great!

Cycling through disabled and enabled Rated 5 out of 5 stars

In previous versions (2.14 or ealier), you can click the status bar, and it would cycle between my enabled proxies and disabled mode. I really only have 1 enabled proxy, that I must use anytime I connect to the corporate VPN. Previously I would just click on it once, and it would go to my proxy, click on it again, and disabled would show up. Now I need to right click, and select the proxy. Once I do that the first time, cycling works between disabled and the enabled proxies. Every restart I have to redo the right click to select, and cycling will work again.

Please fix this so that after a restart, I can do a simple click and cycle between my proxies will work the first time.

Thanks

Beware of a bug in 2.15 !

Cycling through proxies is broken in 2.15.

Until 2.15, cycling through proxies in status bar worked like a charm. Re-applying the settings, restarting the browser didn't help. Thankfully, reverting to 2.14 fixed it for me.

Using the most recent version of Foxyproxy I can say that I really do appreciate the developer's time to make significant improvements, for instance the new Foxyproxy is clearer and much easier now to add proxies to the interface. Overall I would recommend closer investigation for this advanced proxy management application, and do have some improvement suggestions, but overall, Foxyproxy is not bad.
