Hi :)
This addon lets you read aloud any text on a page or pdf files.
It reads in the background and you can keep surfing on other tabs !

- NO ONLINE CONNECTION NEEDED, it uses installed voices on your pc :)

- you can cue up various speech-utterances from the same or different tabs , it will read them one after another.

- throw as much text as you want on it and do other stuff while listening to the text.

i programmed it mainly for myself to drive up my productivity and it helped me tremendously in the past months. :) happy

VOICES:

- in the options panel
click the first column to enable/disable a voice !
click second column to change a voices rate, pitch , volume sliders!


before usage you need to select the languages and voices you want to use from the addons options panel (english and your language ? ).

For windows install new Languages from here:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/language-packs

or use other sapi4 and sapi5 3rd party voices you find on the net ( may not work with every voice , trial and error)!

the microsoft voices installed on windows 8 and higher imho really sound the best of all available voices( in english and german at least). they are sufficient to even read long texts without getting annoying or being hard to understand.

I have now enabled this for osx and linux too!
please test it
on bigger linux distros and osx i think there are already voices preinstalled, i don´t know though, please refer to your os handbook if you need to install them additionally.

for old versions (below ff 49)!!!------------------------------------------------------------------------
this addon is written with the "webspeech" api, not activated by default in ff49 and below!
the addon does this for you , but firefox will not find the voices on your system until you restarted firefox ones after the installation! (not needed for ff49+)
A Bug happens if you press Pause right before the end of a text. it the sends the pause to an already non existing SpeechSynthesis, which then breaks the SpeechSynthesis until Firefox restart. SO DON`T PRESS PAUSE RIGHT BEFORE THE TEXT ENDS ! there is nothing i can do about it ! (this is fixed in ff49+)
