  • Hello,
Could you write me email (admin@fastaddons.com) with more details please? I would live to investigate this.
For example, is your PC running all night? And do you have "Auto-reload" enabled in some of your dials? There have been cases when auto-reload would fail if monitor disconnects itself when monitor goes to sleep but PC is still running.
But in any case, addons should not be possible to crash the browser, so sounds interesting.
    Please let me know.

  • Hello,
Could you send me a screenshot of the problem?
Also, could you reload one of the thumbnails and then go to the main menu (upper right corner) and click Advanced / Send error logs... and then send me the logs on email.

Unless Firefox changed something, it should works fine even on high-resolution screens.

There are a few downsides. Firstly, when you turn on the display of signatures for dials and click on the button to expand the list of groups, the signatures overlap the list of groups. Secondly, when exporting settings and speed dials, only those groups that fit on the monitor screen are exported. Well, a trifle, but still, there are not enough site icons. There are not even people like Intel, AMD, Nvidia. On the whole, not bad. Conveniently, exported settings are not encrypted. And just like with FVD, you can lose all your bookmarks.
  • Hello,
Yeah, the "Center (contain)" should be default for custom images, I will fix this in the upcoming release.

Also, you say import in Chrome failed? That's sounds impossible, it's build from the same source code, it must work :). I will investigate now. And you are right, after the import it will look exactly the same.

If you have a lot of dials and thumbnails, the import may take a while depending on your drive speed (slow SSD can take a whole minute or more to import 40MB backup file).
Could you please write me to my support email what was the size of the exported file? And was there some error written? And did the dials at least partially imported?
    Thanks!

  • Everything was perfect until I updated FF several days ago, and then Speed Dial started to crash FF and itself also. Now it dont even show my bookmarks and groups, and shows an error.

    Hello,
Please contact me to my support email if the problem persist.
But in general this is a Firefox specific error that often disappears after restarting Firefox or whole PC.
If you can see it even after the restart, then I would suggest you to reinstall my add-on. But make sure to export your dials to a file first - from the Options page / Import backup tab (you can export also your thumbnails).

  • Hello,

You are not alone. Firefox has some issues recently and users are loosing all add-ons data, not just in my add-on. See for example this bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1530660

But there is way to recover it even if you don't have backups. Firefox in version 66 migrated all add-ons data to a new storage and during this process they created a backup file - "storage.js.migrated".
You can use this file to restore your data, see this article:
    https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2018/08/03/new-backend-for-storage-local-api/
After you located the file, you can actually directly import that file into my speed dial - just rename it to "xxx.group_speed_dial" and then import.

And lastly, maybe you Firefox just switched profiles. You see, Firefox 67 started to use separate profile for each installation - this is a good thing to prevent some serious issues, however for some users this actually caused "data loss" because their Firefox was suddenly using a new profile. But all you need to do is switch to a correct profile. See this article for more info:

  • Hello,
The thumbnails generation is very complex process now. Sadly the API that was available before for the SpeedDial is not available anymore.
There are three options for generating thumbnails and each of them has some advantages and some disadvantages.

But the best results are from the background reload - which works in the invisible tab. These thumbnails should be sharp.
This method is by default used when you add a new dial (unless you use "Add this page to dial" from context menu on a page).

You can also use reload by visiting page which also yields good thumbnails and it works on any page.

I will try to simplify the options in near future for easier usage...
Also feel free to contact me directly on my support e-mail.
