PlainCopy adds a new “Copy plain text” entry to the Firefox context menu.

When you select text on a web page and choose the PlainCopy menu item, the selected content is copied to the clipboard as clean plain text – without HTML formatting, fonts, colors, or other rich text elements.

In addition, PlainCopy cleans up several invisible characters that are commonly found on websites and may cause problems when pasting text into editors, documents, or applications:

• Removes soft hyphens (conditional hyphenation characters)
• Removes zero-width characters
• Converts non-breaking spaces into regular spaces
• Trims leading and trailing whitespace

A small confirmation message is displayed after the text has been copied successfully.

PlainCopy does not collect any data, does not communicate with external servers, and requests only the permissions required for its functionality.
