I like this Add-on as well. It is simple to use and accurate. The only problem I have seen with it is when you zoom in on the server on the map, it's not where it should be. For instance you zoom in and it shows the server in the middle of a river. This is not an issue with this add-on but just the maps. The fella thinking his political beliefs as to Taiwan's independence should keep them to himself. This is not the place for it. I suggest you go out on a street corner and speak your thoughts there. Maybe your country will give you a reward.

I would advise people to install this add in.
This tool takes almost no space at all and is simple to use.
Reasons to use this:
1. If the website is hosted in China, that would kind of tell you that the information would have been "corrected" by the PRC.
2. Different countries, different internet laws
3. If a website of a software is in a unexpected country, this tool could give you a heads up before you download anything

For my part, I just installed it because I am curious where websites are hosted, it takes virtually no space, so why not install it?

In response to Love_Ruo,
the Republic of China is a country. Look up the truth on any website not controlled by PRC. If Taiwan was not a country, I would not be in the US because my dad is a diplomat sent from Taiwan to the US. Also, the developer is not trying to make a statement (I hope), he/she is just sharing a useful tool to other people. Also, what is the meaning of typing in Chinese? Are you trying to insult people or make a point?

PS: if people are curious to why I am responding to Love_Ruo, translate his simplified Chinese to English and it will be apparent. I kind of find it offensive due to the fact that
1. Making false assumptions based on no fact
2. " 希望你能就這個錯誤做些什麼", what mistake did the developer make?
Out of curiosity, why did you go to a Taiwan website in the first place? Which website?

regions

First of all, that's clearly in dispute. Regardless, what regions are in the database is up to Maxmind, not us. We just use the database.

I should also point out that Puerto Rico is a part of the US and they also have their own entry and flag. So, there are other small regions that are listed in Flagfox even though they may be part of larger nations. The database attempts to be relatively neutral in this regard.

We all read enough online. Agreed? If yes, this is the add-on for you. Makes knowing where you are in the world a visual experience, easy to spot. Thanks Dave.G!

This is quite a fun addon to use. It's interesting to find out where every site is hosted.

This tool does what it's supposed to do perfectly. But I don't see why you'd need to know a site's location.

Interesting to know where a site is hosted Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Although I can't think of any functional reason why you'd need to know where a site is hosted, I still find this to be an interesting tool.

Very cool add-on, but the warning dialog gets a bit painful, though I think it's a good security check. Can you have it so you can store the "i trust that this site is located in this country" on an individual site basis? That would allow us to only be prompted for sites we don't use much.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.3.2).

just disable it

Just click the "Don't show this again" checkbox. The warning is just to try to alleviate some common user confusion. It's not designed to be used over and over again, but rather to be turned off after the user understands what's going on. That's why I label it a "note" and not a "warning". (though, all Mozilla prompt service dialogs must use the warning icon, which is annoying)
