Transcript Pull adds a Transcript button under every YouTube video. Click it and the full transcript opens in the sidebar with timestamps. Click a line to jump the player to that moment.
Free features
- Full transcript with timestamps on any video that has captions (uploaded or auto-generated)
- Search inside the transcript, with matches highlighted
- Click a line to seek the video
- Language picker when the video has more than one caption track
- Copy the transcript to the clipboard
- Download as a TXT file
Pro features (optional, paid license)
- Export as SRT, VTT, Markdown or JSON
- Export a whole playlist, or the latest videos of a channel, to a single ZIP file
- Switch timestamps on or off in exports
- Merge lines into readable paragraphs
- Copy with prompt: copy the transcript with a ready-made prompt for ChatGPT, Claude or any other assistant (summary, study notes, chapters, Q&A, blog post)
How it works
The extension reads the caption tracks that YouTube already serves to your browser, using your own YouTube session. Nothing is sent to our servers. There is no account, no sign-up and no usage tracking. The only outside connection is to Freemius, the payment and license provider, and only when you activate, check or deactivate a Pro license key.
Limits
- A video must have captions. If the uploader disabled captions and YouTube has not generated them, there is no transcript to pull.
- Playlist and channel export fetches videos one at a time with a short pause between them, so large playlists take a few minutes. Keep the tab open.
- YouTube can change its page or API at any time. We update the extension when that happens.
