I've been a Firefox user since 2003 when it was called Firebird. I started developing websites in 1995 with what would become EnvironmentalChemistry.com. Currently I provide website development services in Saco Maine.
I first made public my theme Classic Compact with the release of FF2, then released my extension Classic Compact Options with the release of FF3. In addition to being an add-ons developer, I volunteer as an AMO editor focusing primarily on reviewing themes.

This extension adds a tremendous amount of power to Thunderbird's filtering capabilities. I especially love the fact that I can suppress the new mail notification icon for selected filters. What this means is that I can suppress that alert icon on all the automated emails alerts I get for various reasons, while still getting alerts for other emails that might need my immediate attention.
This extension helps bring sanity to my inbox.
Barlesque does not play well with other addons and has a very buggy display as a result. Icons do not layout evenly within the Barlesque bar and some addon buttons will totally screwup the Barlesque bar's height even if the same addon button works just fine in the standard addon bar. With custom themes it can also screw up the height of the find bar. I posted a support request to Barlesque's support thread on the MozillaZine forums seeking to work with its developer to make it more compatible with 3rd party themes back in April and very little response.
I'm giving this addon two stars because of very poor support in efforts to iron out compatibility issues with other addons and poor design execution that makes it all but impossible for theme developers to iron out theme specific rendering issues with Barlesque. Addons can't just render correctly on the default theme, they must also work correctly, or be able to be made to work correctly, on third party themes as well.
If the buggy rendering issues are addressed, I'll remove or revise this review, but users do deserve to know when an addon does not play well with others and its developer doesn't endeavor to address compatibility issues.
I have to restart Firefox frequently when doing testing add-on testing and the restart button provided by this add-on makes it so much more convenient.
WARNING: This extension writes a whole section of instructions to the userChrome.css file. As a result, when it is uninstalled its detritus is left behind, which causes a whole mess of error messages to be written to the error log every time Firefox is restarted. This means this add-on could be causing you problems long after you think you have uninstalled it.
I would advise against installing this add-on until the author rewrites it such that it doesn't write instructions to the userChrome.css file.
Some time back I must have installed and then subsequently uninstalled the Ant toolbar (I don't remember doing it). However, today I discovered a really disruptive feature about it that was left behind. The Ant toolbar modifies the UserAgent string to advertise itself in the process it also locks the Firefox version number in the UserAgent string to whatever the version number Firefox was on when the Ant bar was installed. For instance my Firefox was reporting itself as version 3.0.5 even though I had faithfully updated through all the 3.0.* versions to 3.0.12 and then to v3.5 and now am on v3.5.1. Furthermore when it was uninstalled, it did not reset the UserAgent string back to its default setting when it was uninstalled.
The problem with this is can come into play when on a site that checks the browser version to decide what to offer (e.g. this site deciding if a theme or extension is compatible).
The only reason the ant toolbar appends the useragent string is to promote itself. Surely this could be done without screwing up the Firefox version being reported and most certainly said 'flags' should be removed once this add-on is uninstalled.
This is a must have extension for theme and/or website developers. It can really help speed up the process of finding offending code and getting things fixed. I just can't imagine developing and maintaining Firefox themes without it.
This is a must have extension. Not because it blocks flash based ads, but because it gives you control over ALL flash objects such that they only run when YOU want them to run. Too many times I've seen poorly designed and resource greedy flash objects bring my computer to its "knees." I just can't imagine surfing the web without this extension!
What would be nice is for the ability to spoof the referrer when going from a specific site to any other site. For instance when clicking on links on mozilla.com the referrer would be passed on as http://example.com instead regardless of the 3rd party site being visited.
This add-on does not belong under themes & appearance. Please categorize your theme correctly.
This add-on does not belong in the category of themes and appearance. It is a game and does not do anything to the appearance of Firefox. Please categorize your add-on correctly.
DOM Inspector is one of the most important add-ons for both web developers and add-on developers. I could not build and update my Firefox theme without DOM Inspector.
