RollCall Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
RollCall is a browser extension that synchronizes Crunchyroll video playback
between viewers so you can watch together. This policy explains what the
extension does and does not access.
What we collect
We do not collect any personal data. RollCall never accesses, reads, transmits,
or stores:
- Your name, email, or any account information
- Your Crunchyroll account, login, or credentials
- Cookies, tokens, or authentication data
- Your watch history or viewing preferences
- Payment or financial information
- The video file or any media content itself
What the extension accesses
On Crunchyroll watch pages only, the extension reads a single element of the page:
the video player's current play/pause state and playback position (a number, in
seconds). It uses this to keep two viewers in sync, and applies the other
viewer's state to your player. That is all.
What is sent over the network
When you create or join a room, the only data sent over the network is the sync
payload:
- Your play/pause state (
playingorpaused) - Your playback position (a number in seconds)
- A randomly generated 6-character room code
This is sent over a secure WebSocket connection to the RollCall relay server,
which forwards it to the other participant(s) in your room. It is not sold, not
shared with third parties, and not used for advertising.
Server logs
The relay server keeps short-lived operational logs (room created/joined/left,
errors, and aggregate usage counts) to keep the service stable. These do not
include your playback position or any personal information.
Third parties
RollCall does not include any analytics, advertising, trackers, or
third-party SDKs. The only external connection is to the operator's own sync
server.
Permissions
alarms: keeps the extension's background connection alive so sync is not
interrupted. Collects no data.- Host access to
*.crunchyroll.com: required to read and control the video
element on Crunchyroll watch pages. No other sites are accessed.
Children's privacy
RollCall is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data
from anyone.
