Macedonian spelling and grammar checking, entirely on your device. No text ever leaves your machine — no server, no internet, no analytics. It works offline, inside your browser.

Macedonian is not supported by LanguageTool, Grammarly, or any other serious proofreading tool. Lektor-MK is an attempt at the first real one: spelling and grammar that run completely on your own computer.


13 rules, each with positive and negative tests:

• Spelling — 427,464 forms in a compact FST (1.25 MB), with suggestions ranked by frequency.
• Mixed scripts — Latin letters hidden inside Cyrillic words (мaкeдoнски), invisible to the eye.
• Foreign Cyrillic letters — Serbian ђ ћ, Russian ъ ы э я ю, Bulgarian щ.
• Latin-transliterated Macedonian — converted back to Cyrillic.
• Double definiteness — убавата книгата → убавата книга.
• Clitic order — ми го даде ✓, го ми даде ✗.
• Dative ѝ — ѝ as opposed to the conjunction и.
• L-participle agreement — таа дошол ✗, does not agree with its subject.
• Fused не — несака → не сака.
• Separated нај and по — нај добар → најдобар, по добар → подобар.
• Punctuation — lowercase sentence start, space before a closing comma or period.

As you type in any text field, flagged words get a wavy underline. Click an underline to get a card with the rule name, a short explanation, and a suggested fix you can apply with one click. If the word is correct, add it to your personal dictionary.

The toolbar popup offers a quick check of pasted text and next-word autocomplete (from a bigram table). Settings give you a master switch, a check delay, a personal dictionary, per-site pausing, and a toggle for every individual rule.

Every rule is precision-gated: it does not ship unless it reports zero false positives on a Macedonian Wikipedia sample. The flag rate is 2.78% over 17,104 words, and MK_DOUBLE_DEFINITE has 0 false positives across 17,782 words of edited prose. Rules change; the bar does not: precision before recall.

GPL-3.0-or-later. Everything is open: the base wordlist (gerazov/dictionary-mk, GPL-2.0), the paradigms expanded from Apertium (GPL), and counts only from Macedonian Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0) — Wikipedia article text is never distributed.

The engine is Rust compiled to WebAssembly, with no I/O and no platform assumptions. The same code backs the test CLI and a future desktop build.
