Overview

ConvoBar is a browser extension that helps you craft thoughtful replies on social media. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how it's processed, and what stays on your device.
Data Processed Locally

The majority of ConvoBar's functionality runs entirely in your browser. The following data never leaves your device:
- Your extension settings and preferences
- Cached suggestions and history
Your OpenRouter API key (stored in local browser storage)

Data Sent to Third-Party APIs

When you request a reply suggestion, ConvoBar sends the relevant post content to your configured AI provider via OpenRouter. This is necessary to generate responses. Specifically:
- The text content of the post or comment you're replying to
- Any context you provide (e.g., tone, style preferences)
This data is sent directly from your browser to OpenRouter's API using your own API key. ConvoBar does not operate a proxy server and does not have access to your API key or the content sent to OpenRouter. Please review OpenRouter's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle data.

Browser Extension Permissions

ConvoBar requests the following browser permissions:
Active Tab / Site Access (LinkedIn, X): To read post content on supported platforms and inject the suggestion toolbar.
Storage: To save your preferences and API key locally in your browser.
These permissions are used solely for the extension's core functionality. We do not access any other browsing data, tabs, or history.

Data We Collect

ConvoBar does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or cookies. We do not have user accounts or databases that store your information.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties. The only external data transmission occurs when you explicitly request an AI-generated suggestion, which is sent directly to OpenRouter from your browser.

Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally in your browser, you have full control. You can clear your data at any time by:
Clearing the extension's storage via your browser settings
Uninstalling the ConvoBar extension
Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of ConvoBar after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
