- Csillagos értékelés: 5 / 5készítette: Steven Dyk, 6 éveWorked well - removed the broken / frozen bookmarks, and gave me a short list of bookmarks that it thought were not working. The icons to manage this short list are cryptic - it took me a bit to puzzle out what they were, and how to use them. But the end result was great - I recovered all bookmarks that worked, and removed the ones that were frozen or broken.
- Csillagos értékelés: 1 / 5készítette: Firefox felhasználó 13735395, 6 éveUnfortunately, this doesn't seem to do anything. I ended up opening all of my 216 bookmarks simultaneously and that way, all available favicons were loaded. For bookmark ordering, I had to use a different product too, but I like the notion of one extension that satisfies both requirements and will try checkmarks again from time to time, then reevaluate my star rating if checkmarks should suddenly become functional.

közzétéve: 6 éveHi, thanks for the feedback. The default setting should load 5 bookmarks in parallel. Does it open all of your bookmarks at once? At the moment direct manipulation of favicons is not supported by the web extension API. That’s why previous favicon reloaders don’t work anymore and I chose to workaround by opening all bookmarks to trigger the native favicon update. What do you mean by ordering bookmarks? Sorting by name?
- Csillagos értékelés: 5 / 5készítette: Orbit4L, 6 éveOmg, why i found that only now xD really great job mate, this bookmarks Add-ons is really awesome, i use Firefox since FF exist and i don't remember how many times i manually re-opened all my tabs to restore the Favicons and check the validity of my links, and with my 900 links approximately i let you imagine the time needed ^^ So a big thanks to you for this extension that makes the job perfectly! (~25min for my 900 bookmarks with the default setting of 5 tabs, not ultra fast but a lot better than manually x) )
- Csillagos értékelés: 5 / 5készítette: joshmariana, 6 éveWorks great, albeit a little slow if you have tons of bookmarks. I did have trouble at first discovering how to run it (sidebar!!), but once I figured that out, it worked flawlessly. Thanks!!!

- Csillagos értékelés: 5 / 5készítette: luismagar, 6 éveWorking great in my windows 8.1 and FF 61.0.1 64bit. Hope you could add some kind of domain level settings in order to avoid looking multiple times for favicons on same domain bookmarks. Great addon, thank you!

- Csillagos értékelés: 1 / 5készítette: mimteatr, 6 éveIt hangs (freezes) the browser at a certain percentage, tried 3 times and every time I had to end firefox task
through Task Manager, uninstalling it!Fejlesztői válasz
közzétéve: 6 éveHi, if it freezes the browser at a certain percentage it might be possible that a certain site causes the crash. Maybe you could provide the content of the browser console (ctrl+shift+j or cmd+shift+j) before the crash or inspect the bookmark where it crashes. Chances are high that the browser crashes without the addon. - Csillagos értékelés: 5 / 5készítette: Estellio, 6 éve

- Csillagos értékelés: 5 / 5készítette: PanskiKow, 6 éveThe best addon for favicon's i have seen in 2 years! Checkmarks found a large amount of favicons on a fresh reload of bookmarks upgrading my pc. The resource used is really nothing with an updated pc and shouldn't be any problem for what it does. Thank you!

- Csillagos értékelés: 5 / 5készítette: Firefox felhasználó 13940090, 6 éveGreat workaround to reload favicons - and by the way a check of run out bookmarks. PLEASE IMPROVE: It is not possible to pause the process, once started. And if the computer goes into sleep mode, it starts on the beginning again. If you have 5000 bookmarks, this is rally annoying. The same with the results. You have to correct (p. x. 800) falied links in a row without getting a cuppa of coffee, cause when the computer shuts down, you loose all results. PLEASE create some kind of memory for results and work in progress. THANKS
- Csillagos értékelés: 5 / 5készítette: Firefox felhasználó 12623088, 6 évePros:
- It does what it says.
Cons:
- It does it very inefficiently.
- The extension would be much better if it didn't actually open new tabs, but reloaded favicons in the background. This uses a lot of resources, and bandwidth, and I can't even browse at the same time. If I run it while watching Twitch or Youtube, it will interrupt the video. That's a deal breaker for me.
This kind of extension should be able to run in the background without draining the browser. I would NEVER let this extension reload my entire bookmark collection because it would take long time, and it would also cripple the browser.
I wanted to use it for individual folders, but even that's a hassle because it requires manually typing in the folder path, and it doesn't even explain the syntax, and is shows no examples. I had to try several times until success because the syntax is not obvious to me. (I've seen all kinds of different syntaxes for the Firefox bookmark paths so its not obvious.) So, instead of doing all that, it's actually faster to just right click on the folder and do "Open All in Tabs" instead of using this extension.
Sorry, but this extension is not really a favicon loader. It's basically a bookmark opener. I can already open my bookmarks much faster by selecting "Open All" on each folder, so at this point this extension doesn't offer a better way of doing it.
I will gladly try it again, if it becomes more efficient and easier to use.
UPDATE
- In response to the author
True, it can reload all bookmarks in the browser, which cannot be done otherwise in a single turn. That can be useful, if one is willing to leave the browser run unattended for a long time. I don't know if I would ever do that with over 10k bookmarks, but I guess it's nice to have.
I will bump the rating because I judged it a little unfairly at first. I tried this extension with the expectation that it's a favicon loader specifically, which it is not, and in all fairness it never claimed to be. I had the wrong expectation, so that's my fault. This extension does exactly what it says - it automates loading of bookmarks.
"I could write a custom script without the api that only fetches favicons but this could easily mess up things in future firefox releases and would be time-consuming to maintain. "
Well, this actually sounds like what I really was looking for. It is too bad that you don't have the time to do it. Hopefully someone will.Fejlesztői válasz
közzétéve: 6 éveHi, I can only repeat that this is a workaround as the webextensions api doesn’t support the direct manipulation of favicons. That’s why extension like FavIcon Reloader don’t work in 57+. For single folders “Open all in tabs” is the official recommendation for reloading favicons. My extensions just automates this for all folders - which can be a lot. I could write a custom script without the api that only fetches favicons but this could easily mess up things in future firefox releases and would be time-consuming to maintain. Besides that I also check if a bookmark is still valid...
