This extension uses the YouTube captions API to extract subtitles and display them in an overlay on the player.

For AI-powered translation, a user-supplied API key is required. However, users can also use the extension without an API key through the built-in simple chatbot mode, which works out of the box and may even be preferred for casual use.

No user data is collected, stored, or transmitted to any third-party server beyond the AI provider the user explicitly selects and configures themselves. The extension does not have a backend server of its own.
