This privacy policy explains how Wizder ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Wizder web application at wizder.com and the Wizder browser extension (collectively, the "Service").
What Data We Collect
Account Information
- Email address and display name when you create an account.
- Password (stored as a secure hash; we never store or see your plain-text password).
Learning Data
- URLs and titles of articles and videos you choose to save.
- Your learning preferences, such as notification time and timezone.
- Lessons generated from the resources you save.
- Circles you create or join, and resources shared within them.
Browser Extension
- Page URLs and titles of resources you explicitly choose to save via the extension.
- Your authentication token to keep you signed in (stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API).
- Notification and scheduling preferences (stored locally in your browser).
How We Use Your Data
- To save learning resources to your account at your request.
- To generate personalized daily lessons based on resources you have saved.
- To send browser notifications when your daily lesson is ready.
- To facilitate shared learning through Circles you participate in.
- To authenticate you and maintain your session.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal data to third parties. Your data is transmitted securely to Wizder servers solely for the purpose of delivering the learning service. Resources you save are private to your account unless you explicitly share them within a Circle.
Data Storage and Security
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS with industry-standard encryption.
- Passwords are stored using secure one-way hashing algorithms.
- The browser extension stores authentication tokens and preferences locally using Chrome's storage API.
- You may delete your saved resources at any time. You may also delete your account and all associated data through your account settings.
Browser Extension Permissions
The Wizder browser extension requests the following permissions, each used for a specific purpose:
- storage — save your preferences and authentication tokens locally.
- alarms — schedule periodic checks for new lessons.
- notifications — alert you when your daily lesson is ready.
- contextMenus — add a "Save to Wizder" option when you right-click a page or link.
- tabs — read the URL and title of the active tab when you save a resource.
The extension only communicates with wizder.com. No other third-party domains are contacted.
Your Rights
- Access and export your saved resources at any time.
- Delete individual resources or your entire account.
- Update your learning preferences and notification settings.
- Uninstall the browser extension at any time to stop all local data collection.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
