Parallel Margin is a private reading table for translators, editors, researchers, and close readers working with two related texts. Paste an original beside a translation, compare two editions, or place an early draft against a later one. The extension segments both witnesses into passages and uses a local dynamic-programming alignment engine to propose one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one, omission, and insertion relationships.

The suggested structure remains editable. Select a passage on the left and one on the right to place a hand pin; the next alignment is constrained around that decision. Every row identifies its relationship type, while the concordance search highlights a word or phrase in context on both sides. A compact folio summary reports the number of threads, gaps, and manual pins.

Projects persist in local browser storage. Users can export a portable JSON folio containing the source texts, manual anchors, and calculated relationships, or a readable Markdown folio for discussion and archival work. A built-in sample demonstrates the complete workflow without requiring any external material.

Parallel Margin has no account, server component, analytics, advertisements, remote code, or network requests. Texts never leave the user's device.
