Multify Browser Extension — Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 26, 2026
This policy covers the Multify browser extension for Firefox. It supplements the Multify Privacy Policy (https://multify.co/privacy) and Terms of Use (https://multify.co/terms), which apply to your Multify account and to everything the extension sends to Multify. Multify Inc., a Delaware corporation, is the data controller. Contact: hello@multify.co.
WHAT THE EXTENSION DOES
The extension saves items you choose to your Multify "stash", lets you chat with Multify about the page you are on, and offers small tools (screenshot capture, task creation, reverse prompt). Everything it sends goes only to Multify's own servers at app.multify.co over HTTPS. It contains no third-party trackers, loads no remote code, and does not sell or share your personal information for advertising.
WHAT IS SENT, AND WHEN
Nothing is transmitted until you act. The extension sends data in exactly these cases:
- Browsing activity — the URL and title of a page or post. Sent when you save an item using a site's own Save / Like / Bookmark / Star / Favorite / Upvote control on the supported sites (YouTube, TikTok, X, Threads, Instagram, Reddit, LinkedIn, Amazon, GitHub, Medium, Substack, Hacker News, Product Hunt), when you right-click and choose "Stash this", "Send to Multify" or "Create Task in Multify", when you send a chat message with the current page attached (the page pill in the sidebar, on by default and switchable off per message), and — while the page-notes tab is enabled (see below) — the address of each web page you open, to look up its public note count. Unsaving on the original site sends nothing. The extension does not read your Firefox history.
- Website content — text you select on a page (when you right-click it into Multify), the readable text of the page you attach to a chat, a screenshot of the visible tab (only when you press Capture), and an image you right-click for "Generate reverse prompt" (sent resized). Page text and images are used only to answer your request; screenshots are stored in your Multify Files until you delete them.
- Search terms — on a Google or Bing results page, the query you searched for. Sent only when you click the Multify button on that page, to start a chat about it.
- Technical and interaction data (optional) — anonymous usage events such as "sidebar opened" or "item stashed", plus the extension version and browser family, used to understand which features are used and to fix bugs. This is off if you leave the "technical and interaction data" box unchecked when installing, and can be turned on or off at any time in Firefox under Add-ons and themes → Multify → Permissions. When it is off, no usage events are sent.
Page notes tab: when you accept the "access your data for all websites" permission at install, the extension shows a small tab on the left edge of web pages with the number of public notes for that page. To find that number it sends the address (URL) of each web page you open to app.multify.co, whether or not you are signed in; nothing else about the page is sent, and the page itself is not read. This is the "browsing activity" line in the install prompt. To stop it, revoke access for all websites in Firefox under Add-ons and themes → Multify → Permissions; the tab disappears immediately and no page addresses are sent. The sidebar shows a card to turn it back on. Multify does not keep a log of the pages you visit from these lookups beyond short-lived server logs (see the Multify Privacy Policy, "System and security logs").
WHAT IS NOT COLLECTED
The extension does not read or send your passwords, form entries, cookies from other sites, private messages, your feed, or pages you merely visit. It has no access to your Firefox history or bookmarks.
COOKIES AND LOCAL STORAGE
The extension uses your existing Multify session cookie on app.multify.co to sign you in. It sets one cookie of its own on multify.co ("sc_ext") that only tells the Multify website the extension is installed, and reads a cookie the Multify website sets when you pick a Look ("mf_look"). Locally, Firefox extension storage holds your chosen AI model, your Look, and short-lived hand-off data (for example the text of a right-click) that is cleared when Firefox closes.
HOW YOUR DATA IS USED AND SHARED
Data sent by the extension is processed under the Multify Privacy Policy. Chat messages and attached page content are sent to the AI model providers Multify uses to generate a reply (primarily via OpenRouter); Multify does not use them to train AI models unless a model or feature is clearly labeled for that. Your stash is private by default; an item is visible to others only if you switch it to Public. We share data only with the service providers named in the Multify Privacy Policy and never sell it.
RETENTION AND DELETION
Stashed items, notes, and captures stay in your account until you delete them or delete your account. Chat history follows the retention periods in the Multify Privacy Policy. You can delete your account and all its data from the Multify dashboard or by emailing hello@multify.co. Uninstalling the extension removes its local storage and the "sc_ext" cookie; it does not delete data already in your account.
YOUR RIGHTS
You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal information as described in Section 13 of the Multify Privacy Policy. Contact hello@multify.co.
CHANGES
We will update this page and the "Last updated" date when the extension's data practices change. Changes to the data categories declared to Firefox are also shown by Firefox when you update the extension.
