Backup & Recovery Codes

Important:
• The backup codes are displayed only once when they are generated.
• You can download them as a .txt file for safekeeping.
• Once dismissed, the codes cannot be viewed again. If you still have access to the dashboard, you can only generate a new set, which permanently invalidates the previous codes.

Secure Dashboard Access
All account management is performed through the secure dashboard, including:
• Reconfiguring your authenticator app
• Generating new Backup & Recovery Codes
• Viewing and unlocking locked tabs

The dashboard can typically be opened by right-clicking the TabAuth extension icon and selecting "Options." The exact steps may vary slightly depending on your browser and device.

Access to the dashboard requires either:
• A valid Authenticator (2FA) code, or
• A valid Backup & Recovery Code

If You Lose Access
If you lose both your authenticator app and all Backup & Recovery Codes, there is no recovery mechanism.

The only way to regain access is to uninstall the extension, which permanently resets all locally stored data.

This is a deliberate design decision. TabAuth contains no backdoors, cloud recovery services, recovery APIs, or bypass mechanisms - only you control access to your locked tabs.
