This was promising but failed a lot. I couldn't access a website where I do my work. Until fixed, this is crap and only making problems for your computer. DO NOT INSTALL IT. It needs to be fixed!

Used to work, but now:
- Block almost every site, even if the blacklist is empty
- Is loaded with the crap, which will spy on you while you are browsing

Used to work, but now it doesn't

Not good. Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas

I used to have this on my Mac (now I have Windows) and it worked perfectly fine but that was 3 months ago.
Now it doesn't work at all.
I imported a bunch of phishing and harmful websites from my old computer but it still lets me go on them. (I tested it out with one *less* harmful site).
I do not recommend it just because it doesn't work at all.

I installed this way back, had to regulate a user surfing infectious sites, so necessary and non-imposing to begin. This was some years ago. I blacklisted various sites that long ago as well, and did not tinkle with the extension in the least since then.
The naughty site-seeking user is long gone, and the extension is (WAS) still on. I suppose I should have removed it, but now I am glad to have removed it via this review threads tips & feedback (thanks for about:config settings!).
To the point:
Beginning one day prior to penning this review and extension removal my browser began acting like a useless gob-of-pointlessness, I ran through a trouble-shooting this and that, everything was fine; except it wasn't, the PF Usage was spiking, and I had to end FF multiple times and come back inside FF in safe mode to suss abouts.
Then in checking add-ons, etc, I said I wonder if it's this blocksite deal, and yes, I do not need it anymore, let's see. Done and Done, problem solved.
Now the machine is running so smooth, it's like a new item, I had been hearing grumbling and hard-drive noises (?) for weeks, flippin' data-miners/spy-nuts.
Avoid this extension!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Block Site worked during three days. Then, all the blacklisted sites disappeared from the list and Block Site blocked every and all sites. Seems unreliable.

I added one site to the blacklist and then it blocked every single link I clicked on!! I will find something else, this add-on is garbage.

Although this addon claims to provide an opt-out for reporting statistics, it does not truly respect this. Even after opting out, I could see several access to '' by the extension !

Here is one way to block your 'anonymous reporting'. Add the following lines to your /etc/hosts file.

If you keep seeing an blocksite warning message even though you disabled warning messages - comment out line 68 in wips.js file in the extension.

Apart from this, the addon is a great extension !

Bug-Report Puntuado con 3 de 5 estrellas

There are many comments about the software. Here is what I experienced so far after updating FF from version 22 to 23:
* there was a tab asking me to opt-in or not for data collection; I decided not to participate in data analysis
* all sites were blocked
* after de-activation and re-activation (each requiring a FF restart) everything was working fine again

So I would think that this is a bug in the add-on that blocks all traffic after the FF and/or add-on update. This should be fixed by the developers very soon to avoid further negative comments.

The first time I started FF after the update I got the page for data collection opt-in. But it was not clear to me that this add-on is from and I don't remember seeing any hint for the Blocksite add-on. I first thought, oh shit, when did I install such an add-on, but I really couldn't remember. After deciding not to participate in data analysis, I opened my add-ons and checked. And there was the Blocksite add-on and after looking into my blacklist I knew why I installed it (and why i still wanna use it). developers, please make sure that we can clearly see which add-on was updated. You can still advertise your company, but I wanna know at least what caused this tab without reading the small-font text.

As I disabled and re-enabled the plugin, everything was working as before.

There were other comments saying that the deinstallation doesn't remove everything. So please, fix this as well.

I would recommend to make a huge statement on your homepage that there was a bug blocking all traffic, mention the workaround and say a big sorry for any inconvenience. That could avoid many further negative comments here. And then hurry up and fix these bugs. If you want, include a big "Sorry" on your next FF update tab.

I feel the addon is not as bad as it is rated now. I hope you'll review your test procedures for releases soon to avoid such disasters in the future. You may also rethink your ad strategy: if you really want to highlight the company, nobody can see the product anymore and all damage this is causing can only be related to the company, because the product is not visible anymore.

Many thanks for your work and keep-on-coding.
