FlashGot Mass Downloader by Giorgio Maone

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 892 reviews

514 users

Download all the links, movies and audio clips of a page at the maximum speed with a single click, using the most popular, lightweight and reliable external download managers.
Collector's Note Just look at the sheer number of people who have installed FlashGot! Very useful to have when you want to download multiple files using a download manager software like IDM(Internet Download Manager) or Orbit Downloader. But it has been included by Mozilla in the list of 20 addons that slow down firefox at startup. I recommend that you download it but keep it disabled till you need it. Also you need to download a 'download manager' software with it, I recommend 'Internet Download Manager' or 'Orbit Downloader'. Both of them are equally good and can be found at download.com

User Agent Switcher by chrispederick

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 336 reviews

187 users

The User Agent Switcher extension adds a menu and a toolbar button to switch the user agent of a browser.
Collector's Note When a website insists that you use another browser to access it, this addon fools it into believing that you have switched to another browser and lets you access the website.

MinimizeToTray revived by Nils Maier

Minimizes windows into the system tray.

QuickNote by Leszek Życzkowski, Jed Brown, others

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 204 reviews

69 users

A simple note-taking extension.
Collector's Note QuickFox Notes is another addon in this collection which is slightly better than this one. But in QuickFox Notes you need to change a setting to make it better than Quick Note. I have explained how to change the setting in my comment on QuickFox Notes. If you are too dumb to change that setting, then use this addon. (Also read my comment on QuickFox Notes)

Session Manager by Michael Kraft

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 850 reviews

166 users

Session Manager saves and restores the state of all or some windows - either when you want it or automatically at startup and after crashes. It can also automatically save the state of open windows individually.
Collector's Note You don't need this if you are also installing Tab Mix Plus (included in my list). I personally use neither Session manager nor Tab Mix plus's inbuilt session manager. I simply rightclick on a tab and select 'bookmark all tabs' and save all tabs in a Bookmarks folder which I have named sessions and contains empty folders titled session1,2,3... and so on. I can reopen the whole session by clicking on one of these folders and using the 'Open all in tabs' command. When I noo longer need the session, I simply delete the subfolder where I had saved the tabs. This way I avoid the need to have another addon that eats up my memory. It has the added advantage that my 'sessions' are synchronisable across multiple computers using the X-marks addon. Recommendation : To save sessions, use either of these three methods - 1.My method(best) 2.Tab Mix Plus addon(a very close second best) 3.Session Manager addon

UnMHT by arai_a

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 300 reviews

UnMHT allows you to view MHT (MHTML) web archive format files, and save complete web pages, including text and graphics, into a single MHT file in Firefox/SeaMonkey.
Collector's Note When you save a page using Ctrl+S, it is saved as an html file plus separate file to view images. MHT format is a new fomat which saves all the information in only one file. Internet explorer gives you the option to save the page in MHT format as an inbuilt function, but with Firefox you need this addon.

Mozilla Archive Format, with MHT and Faithful Save by Christopher Ottley, Paolo Amadini

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 359 reviews

44 users

— Open web pages saved with Internet Explorer or other browsers (MHT)
— Save many tabs, video and audio reliably, in a single ZIP file (MAFF)
— Return to the original site you saved a page from, and more!
Collector's Note This addon adds to firefox a feature that can natively be found only in the latest versions of Internet Explorer. If you right click on a webpage and click 'Save as' in firefox, you get an option of saving the 'Complete page' or 'HTML'. When you save a page as 'html', the images are not saved, only the text and links are saved. And when you save the 'Complete page', then the images are saved, but they are saved separately which makes saving the page less useful. On using this addon you get the option of saving the page as 'MHTML' when the page is saved as one single file with the text, the links and the images. It is a featured add by Mozilla and a must have for many. (But I don't need to use it much because ussually when saving a page, I need only the text and the images. I can survive without clickable links. Therefore converting the page to PDF using the PDF Download addon is more efficient. for me. Just sayin!)

ReminderFox by Tom Mutdosch, Daniel Lee, others

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 550 reviews

3,281 users

ReminderFox displays and manages lists of reminders and tasks. ReminderFox uses easy-to-use lists with warnings/alarms to remind you of all your important appointments.
Synchronize ReminderFox with other calendars as well.
Collector's Note Simple Timer + Clocks is another addon in my list that does the exact same things. Both are only slightly different , but equally good. Use any one of them.Reminder Fox is more feature loaded of the two. But mozilla people have issued a list of addons that slow Firefox down at start up and Reminder fox features on that list. However if you don't mind Firefox starting a bit slow, Install Reminder Fox, you will fall in love with the features. If you're installing too many slowing addons, then go for Simple Timer and Clock addon

Notepad (QuickFox) by InBasic, J Benthum

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 191 reviews

14 users

Everyday note-taking solution.
Collector's Note To use this addon the best way. Change settings to 'Open always in Application-content'. This divides your screen into two parts when you click the addon button, in one of these parts, you can write/paste notes. The most efficient note taking addon once this change is made in the settings. It saves your notes into a bookmarks folder, thus the notes automatically get saved when you save your bookmarks or synchronise them with X-Marks. The other note taking addon on this list 'Quick Note' saves notes to a folder on your computer instead of Bookmarks. Just so that you aren't confused, although Quick Note saves your notes among the bookmarks, it does not mean that you cannot access them without the internet. It is just that they can only be read using the addon. So Quick Fox Notes is in every way better than Quick Note. Moreover, if you use X-marks to synchronize and save your bookmarks online, you will never lose your Quick Fox notes.

RefControl by James Abbatiello

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 180 reviews

22 users

Control what gets sent as the HTTP Referer on a per-site basis.
Collector's Note When you go to a website, it ussually tracks how you reached it i.e it logs the websites where you pressed the link that led to this page. RefControl stands for Reference Control and stops websites from tracking you like descibed. However some websites do not allow you to enter unless you have the appropriate reference, like when you login a page for example. If you install this addon and have difficulty logging into any page, then this is the first addon you should check.

Select text and it's automatically copied to the clipboard. Also pastes on middle click.
Collector's Note An indispensable addon, especially when you use it with QuickFox Notes. Copy text from any webpage just by selecting and highlighting it ! No need to press Ctrl+C or Rightclick and Copy. Remembers upto last highlights ! Truly Indispensable once you start using it.

URL Fixer fixes common typos in URLs entered in the address bar. It will fix errors like "google.con" or "youtube, com". You have the option of being asked to confirm corrections before they are applied.
