Just select any text or link on a webpage, right-click, and choose "Search on VirusTotal" to retrieve detailed scan results. This extension handles Google redirect links and detects direct download URLs, making it a valuable tool for security analysts, researchers, and anyone who regularly checks indicators of compromise (IOCs).

Please note that VirusTotal may not have results for all searches, particularly if the item has not been previously scanned or cached in VirusTotal’s database. When performing a lookup, if VirusTotal returns "Item not found," this typically indicates that the selected IP, domain, URL, or hash has not yet been analyzed on VirusTotal. Users can consider uploading files or submitting URLs directly on VirusTotal’s website if they wish to initiate a scan.

This extension operates entirely within your browser and does not automatically initiate scans or upload files to VirusTotal. It simply provides quick access to existing information.

To optimize browser performance and conserve resources, it’s recommended to keep these extensions disabled when they are not in use. You can easily enable any extension when you need to perform a lookup or access specific information, then disable it afterward. This approach helps reduce the extensions' impact on system memory and keeps your browser running smoothly.
