Nightspar is a vocabulary-learning service. This extension is a client for it and requires a free
Nightspar account.

WHAT THE EXTENSION SENDS TO NIGHTSPAR

• Account identity and OAuth tokens, when you sign in.
• The word or phrase you select, when you explicitly save it.
• With context capture on (the default; switchable off in the extension's settings): a short
snippet of the surrounding text, the page URL and the site name. URLs are sanitized first —
credential-like query parameters (tokens, codes, keys, session and password parameters) and the
URL fragment are removed.
• Anonymous product-analytics events (PostHog, EU): which feature was used, plus your device
timezone as a coarse region signal. No phrase text, no page URLs, no persistent identifier —
each event carries a random id and no user profile is created.
• Error reports (Sentry, EU): technical error context, which may include IP address and user agent.

WHAT IT DOES NOT DO

The extension does not read, monitor or transmit the pages you visit in the background, and it does
not track your browsing. Nothing leaves the browser until you explicitly save a phrase or sign in.

WHY

Saved phrases and their context are used to generate flashcards — the meaning as used in your
sentence, a translation, pronunciation, examples and audio — and to schedule spaced-repetition
reviews. Phrase text and context snippets are processed by OpenAI and Google Gemini on paid tiers
with training on our data disabled.

STORAGE AND CONTROL

Data is stored in the EU (Google Cloud, europe-west1). Context capture can be switched off in the
extension's settings at any time. You can delete your account and all associated data from
nightspar.com.
