Diffinity is a browser extension that helps developers review code by highlighting copied or refactored code blocks in GitHub pull requests. This privacy policy explains what data the extension handles, what leaves your device, and your rights regarding your information.


Diffinity stores the following locally, using your browser's extension storage:

• License key and validation status
• Usage statistics (PRs analyzed, blocks scanned, matches found)
• Extension settings

To analyze a pull request, Diffinity fetches that PR's diff from GitHub, using your existing GitHub session so that diffs from private repositories you have access to load correctly.

The diff is analyzed entirely in your browser. Diffinity does not send your source code, diffs, or repository data to us or to any other party, and does not store them after analysis.


The only data Diffinity transmits off your device is during license validation: when you activate a license, your license key and Diffinity's Polar.sh organization identifier are sent to Polar.sh to verify the key. Nothing else is transmitted. If you never enter a license key, Diffinity sends nothing off your device.

Diffinity does not collect analytics or telemetry.

Diffinity requests these permissions (declared in its manifest):

• content script on GitHub: read GitHub pull-request pages to analyze the diff
• storage: store your license key, settings, and usage statistics locally
• host access to github.com and patch-diff.githubusercontent.com: fetch the pull-request diff being reviewed. On Firefox these host permissions are requested from you, not granted silently on install.
• host access to api.polar.sh: validate license keys

All stored data lives in your browser's local extension storage. Uninstalling the extension removes all of its local data. We do not sell, trade, or share your data.


Diffinity is designed for data minimization: it processes code locally, stores only license and usage data on your device, and transmits data off-device only to validate a license you choose to enter. This supports compliance with regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
