EDIT ANY IMAGE

• Open the editor and drop, paste (Ctrl+V) or select an image from your device.
• Right-click an image on a web page and choose “Edit this image in ShotWithEditor”.
• Blur, pixelate or permanently redact areas. Add annotations, crop and export.
• Imported images remain temporary until you choose “Save to library”.
• Automatic sensitive-data detection works on web-page captures using the page’s own text. For imported images, simply draw the redaction boxes yourself. No OCR is used.

CAPTURE WEB PAGES

• Capture an entire page, the visible area, a selected region or a specific element.
• Use keyboard shortcuts: Alt+Shift+S, V, R or E. You can customize shortcuts in Firefox’s extension shortcut settings.
• Capture modern websites more cleanly: sticky headers appear once, fixed footers and chat bubbles are handled, scrollable panels are captured, and lazy-loaded images are given time to load.
• Hide cookie banners, chat widgets and ads with one toggle.

ANNOTATE AND EDIT

• Add arrows, lines, boxes, ellipses, freehand drawings, highlighters, text and numbered steps.
• Use spotlight and magnifier callouts to draw attention to important details.
• Crop images and move, resize, reorder or duplicate annotations.
• Undo and redo changes. Edits are saved with each capture.

PERMANENTLY REDACT SENSITIVE INFORMATION

• Blur, pixelate and redact areas in a way that destroys the original pixels — not merely covers them.
• Automatically scan captured page text for email addresses, phone numbers, payment card numbers, IBANs, API keys, tokens, IP addresses, SSNs, long secrets and password fields.
• Select “Redact all” to remove detected information, or search for a name and redact every matching occurrence.
• Redacted information is removed from exported images and files. The PDF text layer is also cleaned so redacted text cannot be recovered by selecting or copying it.

PDF EXPORT

• Free: Create searchable, single-page PDFs fitted to your capture, with clickable links.
• Pro: Create paginated A4, Letter or Legal PDFs with custom margins, page breaks, headers, footers, page numbers and watermarks.
• Page breaks are designed to avoid splitting lines of text.

EXPORT AND IMAGE QUALITY

• Export as PNG, JPEG, WebP, PDF or copy to your clipboard.
• Files are saved to Downloads/ShotWithEditor/ using the format shot-[page title].[extension].
• Captures are stored as lossless PNG images at their actual captured pixel dimensions, with high-DPI displays taken into account.
• PNG exports are lossless. JPEG and WebP are lossy formats; the default quality is 0.92 and can be adjusted up to 1.0.
• Extremely long pages may need to be scaled down to fit the browser’s canvas limits. ShotWithEditor indicates when this happens.

PRIVACY

Your images and screenshots stay in your browser. ShotWithEditor operates on the tab you invoke it on, when you explicitly use the extension through a click, keyboard shortcut or menu. It uses Firefox’s activeTab permission rather than requesting permanent access to every website.

Screenshots, extracted page text and settings are stored locally in your browser.

ShotWithEditor does not use analytics or advertising and does not require an account. The optional Pro license activation is the exception to its offline operation: after you enter a license key and click Activate, the extension contacts api.gumroad.com to validate your license, sending the license key and product ID.

KNOWN LIMITATIONS

• Browser-protected pages, such as about: pages and the Firefox Add-ons website, cannot be captured.
• The PDF text layer supports Latin-script text only.
• There is no OCR. Automatic sensitive-data detection and redact-by-text work on web-page captures, not imported images. On imported images, draw the redaction areas manually.
• Device emulation and screen recording are not supported.
