關於此擴充套件
Vim What? is the interactive Vim cheat sheet that lives in your toolbar. Forget a key? Click the icon and the whole keyboard is right there: color-coded, clickable, and explained in plain English, with examples and a link to the official Vim docs for every command.
🎨 COLOR-CODED KEYS
Teal — Motion (moves the cursor: w, b, f, /)
Orange — Operator (acts on a motion: d, y, c, =)
Yellow — Command (direct action: i, o, p, u)
Gray — Extra (prefix or special: g, z, ", @)
Red letter — enters insert mode (i, a, o, s, c...)
✨ FEATURES
⌨ Visual keyboard — every Vim command on a full keyboard. Click any key for a clear description, usage examples, and a direct link to the docs.
🔀 Dual-layer keys — normal and shifted commands are stacked on every key, so the full picture is always visible. No toggles.
📚 9 progressive lessons — commands arrive gradually across 9 named levels:
1 — Move & survive
2 — Insert & line basics
3 — Words & operators
4 — Find on line
5 — Yank & paste
6 — Search
7 — Visual mode
8 — Navigate the file
9 — Marks & macros
Current-level keys are outlined so you know what to focus on; earlier keys stay visible but muted.
🧭 Prefix overlays — toggle g, z, or Ctrl to see what every key does with that prefix, right on the keyboard.
🧠 Practice — quick spaced-repetition drills on the keys you have learned, with a daily streak to keep you coming back.
✅ Progress tracking — mark keys as learned and watch your completion grow by category.
🧩 Text objects — a dedicated panel for i/a selectors (iw, a(, i", it...), grouped and color-coded.
🗺 Custom mappings — save your own remaps and notes per key or sequence. They are highlighted on the keyboard.
🌗 Dark mode and color themes — follows your system's light or dark setting automatically, or switch it yourself. Pick from 4 light and 6 dark palettes inspired by popular editor color schemes, each checked for readable contrast.
🔌 Plugin tips — key info includes notes for popular plugins such as vim-surround and vim-commentary.
🔍 Search — type a key or keyword to highlight every matching key.
📅 Key of the Day — a new letter every day, for building muscle memory over time.
🌍 5 keyboard layouts — Qwerty and Dvorak plus three alternative layouts.
⚡ Keyboard first — press any key on your keyboard to look it up. Escape clears the selection, or closes the popup.
🔒 Private by design — no accounts, no analytics, no tracking. Everything stays in your browser.
Whether you are opening Vim for the first time or filling in the gaps, Vim What? keeps every command one click away. And if you know the answer to life, the universe, and everything, try typing it. 🐬
