The “Digital Companion” is an experimental prototype developed within the EU funded research project “SocialTruth”. By installing and using the digital companion, the user is therefore aware that the purpose of the SocialTruth platform is to provide an innovative and distributed way to achieve both content and author credibility verification and detection of fake news, and therefore the ratings reported by the digital companion are the result of the verification algorithms of the SocialTruth platform.

In no way the intent of the platform is to discredit or defame the author of a news. The evaluations expressed by the platform are susceptible to errors, and constitute only a general indication and an evaluation as far as possible objective; that said, the user is invited to form his own opinion independently, while using the results of the digital companion as a guide for this activity.
