If you're even a little bit computer literate, ignore the one star reviews. This is one of the most comprehensive add-ons that I've seen in Firefox. The bonus is that it also works on Chrome. Once updated, it works on Edge too! I used it for free for a long time before I realized that there are too many devices and too many browsers in my house to keep the updated list. I paid for it. I rarely pay for anything, so that's saying something. The cloud list periodically downloads itself back. It is obviously true that add-ons can be bypassed by a kid that knows how, but it's also true that Foxfilter lets you block the Firefox settings page and block it with a password. It is true that some of the default keywords are not very good (18, 21), but you can easily change them. I have my list published on 4bz.org, file name is FoxFilterList.zip
The best answer to keeping your kid safe is on the DNS of your router. Open DNS, Clean Browsing DNS, and others are good. You can use those for free on your router or on your phone service provider. For the keywords of the sites, Foxfilter is better. It's not really possible to name every website that might be needed, but getting the keywords in the title and meta data of the page does great. There's no perfect solution, but this one is good.

- Terrible. I've just wasted 12 USD. Basically, you won't be able to open 90% of websites at all, not even the adds on page on Firefox. I couldn't open Reddit, but then it allowed Ads pop up windows on a website where I wanted to block ALL of them, cause many are awfully pornographic. A fantastic result. Thank you.

Even blocks appropriate sites and the ability to uninstall it which is against FF ad-on policy. - Hello, I'm currently testing parental control systems to see which adult content tagging systems they respect. Even with "Examine Meta Content" turned on in the sensitivity settings, this extension fails to block websites based on various meta tags used by adult websites to identify themselves as such.
I've tested the following meta tags in use by adult websites and none of them cause the page to be blocked:
<meta name="rating" content="adult" />
<meta name="rating" content="mature" />
<meta name="RATING" content="RTA-5042-1996-1400-1577-RTA" />
<meta name="rating" content="RTA-5042-1996-1400-1577-RTA" />
This let me access at least two websites and various twitter accounts with explicit pornographic content which would otherwise have been blocked.
Also, all adult sites I've checked so far include at least one of these tags. - 评分 4 / 5来自 Firefox 用户 18974369, 7 个月前

- When opening links in a tab, the filter will block the current page instead of the new tab.
- Filtering is quite basic and will have many false positive and false negative.
- Access to extension settings is protected with a ugly workaround, not convenient at all, and not secured anyway. - 评分 5 / 5来自 Firefox 用户 16976370, 2 年前
