On an YouTube page, the user right-clicked a link to another video, displaying the context menu. In it, there is a “Shellfox” submenu, whose items are “Run default command on link”, “Run ‘MPV’ on link”, and “Run ‘yt-dlp’ on link”. In the address bar there is a terminal icon.The Shellfox settings page. There are three sections: “Shell commands”, “URL/Page rules”, and “Download commands”. In the shell commands section, there is a description: “Add shell commands, to be executed with a page’s URL as its argument. In a command, $URL is the URL.”

Shellfox is an extension that allows you to run shell commands at the click of a button.
You can register commands that can be executed on any page or link URL through context-menus or an address-bar button. Specific URLs can have default commands configured for them using regex, for convenience.



Like to play videos locally? You can use mpv to play your flicks.

Like to mirror websites? You can have wget handle your data-hoarding.

Like to download your YouTube videos? You can run yt-dlp for safe-keeping.




!IMPORTANT!
Unlike most extensions, Shellfox requires a native program be installed in order to work.

Shellfox should work on most *nix systems (BSD, macOS), but is only tested on GNU/Linux.
