A peer-reviewed study from Leipzig University found that top-ranked Google results are systematically dominated by affiliate-driven spam, with higher-ranked pages showing lower text quality than those buried deeper. Meanwhile, ads eat the first scroll, Pinterest clogs image-adjacent searches, Reddit and Quora flood the rest, and AI-generated filler fills the gaps.
