Privacy Policy — Themify
Last updated: July 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Themify browser extension ("Themify," "the Extension," "we," "us") handles information when you use it. Themify is developed and provided by [Themify Legal Entity Name], operating at themify.io ("we," "our").
By installing or using Themify, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. What Themify Does
Themify converts the webpage you are currently viewing into an installable WordPress theme (.zip file), replicating its layout, styles, and animations. Conversion happens entirely on your device (locally, inside your browser). We do not operate a server that receives, stores, or processes the pages you convert, and the resulting theme file never passes through our infrastructure.
Themify is intended for use only on websites you own or have explicit permission to copy. You confirm this via a consent checkbox the first time you use the Extension.
2. Information We Collect
Themify is designed to minimize data collection. Specifically:
a) License Key (sent to our server)
If you activate Themify with a license key, that key is sent to our server at themify.io (endpoint: /api/public/license/verify) solely to verify that it is valid and active. We do not collect your name, email address, or payment details through the Extension itself — license/account management, if any, is handled separately through your purchase with Themify, not by the Extension's code.
b) Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The Extension uses your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local / chrome.storage.session) to remember:Your confirmation that you own or have permission to copy the site (ownership consent);
Your license key and its last-verified status (cached for up to 6 hours to avoid unnecessary server checks);
The theme name and author name you type into the popup, so it isn't lost if the popup closes mid-conversion;
The current run status of a conversion in progress.
This data stays on your device and in your browser profile. It is not transmitted to us, except for the license key check described in (a) above.
c) Website Content You Convert
To build the theme file, Themify reads the HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, and other assets of the page you are converting, using the permissions you grant to the Extension (see Section 3). This content is processed locally in your browser to assemble the .zip file and is not sent to our servers or to any third party.
3. Permissions We Request and Why
Themify requests the following browser permissions, each used strictly for the functionality described:
Permission Purpose
activeTab / host_permissions (all sites) To read the content, styles, and assets of the page you choose to convert, and to fetch same-site resources (images, CSS, JS) needed to reproduce the page faithfully.
scripting To inject the logic that inspects and captures the page's structure and styles.
downloads To save the generated theme .zip file to your computer.
tabs / windows To identify the active tab/window you want to convert and manage the conversion process.
storage To remember your consent, license status, and in-progress conversion settings locally, as described in Section 2(b).
We do not use these permissions to monitor your general browsing, collect browsing history, or send page content to our servers.
4. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not use analytics or tracking scripts inside the Extension. We do not collect browsing history, cookies from sites you visit, form inputs, passwords, or any personal data beyond the license key check described above. We do not sell, rent, or share data with advertisers or data brokers.
5. Third-Party Sharing
We do not share any information with third parties, except:The license key sent to our own themify.io server for verification (Section 2a);
If required by law, to comply with legal obligations, court orders, or governmental requests.
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services within the Extension.
6. Data RetentionLicense and consent data stored locally in your browser remain until you uninstall the Extension, clear your browser storage, or click "Sign out" in the popup (which removes the cached license).
We retain license verification records on our server only as needed to operate the licensing system and in accordance with applicable law. Contact us (Section 10) for details or deletion requests.
- Security
We use reasonable technical measures (such as HTTPS for the license verification request) to protect the limited data transmitted to our server. Because most processing happens locally on your device, the security of locally stored data also depends on the security of your own browser and device.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location (for example, if you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or California), you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to:
Access the data we hold about you;
Request correction or deletion of your data;
Object to or restrict certain processing;
Request a copy of your data in a portable format;
Withdraw consent at any time (e.g., by uninstalling the Extension or signing out of your license).
Since the Extension collects minimal personal data (essentially only a license key, if you choose to activate one), most of your activity and content never leaves your device. To exercise any rights regarding data held on our servers (such as license records), contact us using the details in Section 10.
9. Children's Privacy
Themify is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your data rights, contact us at:

11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Extension's functionality or legal requirements. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made. Continued use of the Extension after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
