Google Chat Exporter — Vishwas

Google Chat Exporter is a private, client-side tool for backing up and archiving your Google Chat conversations and spaces.

Whether you need a lightweight Plain Text (.txt) transcript for audits and documentation or a rich HTML archive (.html inside a .zip) with all photos, files, avatars, and video attachments preserved, Google Chat Exporter handles it directly in your browser.

Works across chat.google.com and mail.google.com (Gmail Chat), on both Firefox Desktop and Firefox for Android.

WHAT’S NEW IN V2.2

• Auto-Export on Open: Multi-channel archiving made simple! Enable "Auto-Export on Open" in the popup, then click into any channels you wish to backup. Each conversation exports automatically with your chosen settings.
• Incremental Exports ("New Since Last Export"): Saves local checkpoints per conversation so you only download messages added since your previous backup.
• Adaptive History Loading: Dynamically traverses Google Chat message history batch-by-batch without missing messages.
• Date Cutoff Option: Stop history loading automatically once messages reach your chosen "Messages Since" date.
• Concurrent Media Fetching: Downloads media attachments up to 4x faster with managed concurrency.

KEY FEATURES

• Dual Export Formats:
• Plain Text (.txt): Clean, formatted chronological transcript with sender names, timestamps, and multi-line formatting preserved.
• Structured HTML (.html + .zip): Complete interactive archive matching Google Chat’s modern styling, including sender avatars, speech bubbles, reactions, Google Meet cards, and embedded media.
• Full Media Extraction: Automatically packages photos, GIFs, files, and video clips into a dedicated media/ folder inside the .zip archive.
• Bot, Webhook & Card Support: Extracts alert cards, interactive widgets, and webhook posts seamlessly.
• Live Animated HUD: Real-time progress indicator showing exact message counts, history traversal, and media download progress.
• Convenient Triggers:
• Toolbar Popup: Quick-access settings, conversation detection, and one-click export.
• Context Menu: Right-click anywhere in the message view to start an instant export.
