Curfew — bipbop

Curfew redirects youtube.com and instagram.com to a local reminder page during a schedule you set.

How it works

• Choose a start time, an end time, and which days the window applies to.
• An end time earlier than the start runs overnight, and belongs to the day it starts on — a Friday 22:00–07:00 curfew keeps blocking until Saturday morning.
• Tabs already sitting on a blocked site are reloaded when the window opens, so an open YouTube tab doesn't stay usable all night.
• When the window closes, the reminder page sends you back to the site on its own.

Changing the schedule costs a minute

Opening the popup puts two short tasks in front of you — copy out a sentence, type a code backwards — before the schedule or the master switch will respond. They are dull rather than hard, and that is the point: the minute they take is long enough to notice you are only here to push tonight's curfew back.

Checking what the curfew is doing now doesn't need a task to be completed, only editing does.

Embedded players are deliberately left alone

Only top-level navigation is blocked. A page elsewhere that quotes a video still works — the curfew is aimed at going to these sites, not at breaking every page that mentions them.

Privacy

Curfew collects nothing and transmits nothing. It makes no network requests of any kind — no analytics, no telemetry, no remote fonts or icons. Every asset is bundled. Your schedule is stored in local extension storage, on this device only; sync storage is deliberately not used. There is no third-party code, no bundler and no build step.

One caveat the extension cannot fix: a blocked navigation is a redirect, so the reminder page's address lands in your normal browsing history. If you have Firefox Sync turned on for history, that goes wherever your history goes. Clearing history clears it.
