Float was created to solve a simple problem: keeping videos visible while moving between browser tabs, applications, and desktops without repeatedly activating Picture-in-Picture manually.
How It Works
Float integrates with Firefox’s native Picture-in-Picture functionality rather than creating a separate video player.
The extension monitors playback activity and browser visibility changes to determine when automatic Picture-in-Picture should be requested.
Privacy by Design
Float operates locally within your browser. Your preferences remain on your device, and no account or external service is required.
Compatibility & Limitations
Float is designed for Firefox and compatible Firefox-based browsers.
Automatic Picture-in-Picture activation depends on browser capabilities, permissions, and website restrictions. Some videos may not support automatic activation.
Desktop switching detection relies on browser visibility and focus events and may vary depending on your operating system.
Feedback & Development
Float is independently developed and maintained by dragondaw.
Feedback, bug reports, and suggestions for future improvements are welcome.
