SpeakDoc, Inc. (“SpeakDoc”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you access https://speakdoc.io (the “Site”), our browser extensions (the “Extension”), and our associated services (collectively, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.



2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Account Information: Name, email address, and password.

Uploaded Documents: PDFs or other documents you upload for processing.

Webpages You Submit:
When you explicitly choose to add a webpage to SpeakDoc using the Extension, we collect and store:

• The main extracted article text
• The webpage title
• The webpage URL

We do not store raw HTML, hidden form data, images, cookies, or full browsing history.

Support Communications: Messages, feedback, and other correspondence.



2.2 Browser Extension Data Collection

The Extension operates only when you actively choose to use it.

When you click the Extension and submit a webpage:

• The Extension reads the current tab URL using the activeTab permission.
• The main visible article text is extracted locally.
• The extracted text, title, and URL are securely transmitted to our servers for processing.

SpeakDoc processes webpage content only when explicitly initiated by the user.

We do not:

• Monitor your browsing history
• Automatically collect pages in the background
• Collect content from pages unless you explicitly activate the Extension

Authentication tokens are stored locally in your browser’s extension storage and are transmitted only for authentication and session management purposes.



2.3 Information Collected Automatically

Usage Data: Interaction with features on our Site and Service.

Log Data: IP address, browser type, device type, timestamps.

Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand usage patterns and improve the Service. Analytics data does not include stored article text.



3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide text-to-speech playback with synchronized highlighting
• Enable AI-powered question answering about stored articles
• Store articles so users can revisit and interact with them
• Provide account functionality
• Improve and maintain the Service
• Detect abuse and enforce our Terms

4. AI Processing and Large Language Models

To provide question-answering and related features, article text you submit may be processed by third-party AI service providers, including:

• Google (Gemini models)
• OpenAI

We configure these providers not to use submitted content for model training.

SpeakDoc does not use your stored article content to train, fine-tune, or improve AI models.

Article content is processed solely to provide the features you request.



5. Data Sharing

We may share information with:

Service Providers: Cloud hosting providers, analytics providers, and AI processing providers necessary to operate the Service.

Legal Compliance: If required by law or valid legal process.

Business Transfers: In connection with mergers, acquisitions, or asset sales.

We do not sell personal data.



6. Data Retention

Article text, titles, and URLs are:

• Stored until you delete them
• Automatically subject to periodic cleanup policies
• Deleted when your account is deleted

Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for up to six (6) months before permanent removal.

Authentication tokens stored locally in the Extension are cleared when you disconnect or uninstall.



7. User Controls

You may:

• Delete individual articles
• Delete all stored articles
• Export your stored content
• Delete your account and associated data

8. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards.

• All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption.
• Authentication tokens are short-lived and rotated.
• Refresh tokens expire after 30 days and are rotated on use.
• No API secrets are embedded in the Extension.

No system can guarantee absolute security.



9. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.

By using the Service, you consent to these transfers.



10. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect data from children.



11. Third-Party Links

Our Service may contain links to third-party websites.
We are not responsible for their privacy practices.



12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically.
The “Last Updated” date reflects the most recent revision.
