Acerca desta extensão
Kick Off replaces Firefox's new tab page with a calm, beautiful start screen — built around a big legible clock, a fast search bar, and the sites you actually visit. Optional widgets let you add weather, a quick mood check, notes, or world clocks without leaving the tab.
WHAT YOU GET
• Big gradient clock with a friendly greeting and the current date.
• Fast search bar — type and press Enter. Type a URL or domain and it opens directly.
• Top sites tiles that learn from your browsing history, with the option to pin or hide any of them.
• Light and dark themes that follow your system, or pick one manually.
• Optional photo backgrounds — a fresh photo on every new tab, or lock a favorite.
• Press "/" to focus the search bar from anywhere on the page.
OPTIONAL WIDGETS (all off by default)
• Weather — local conditions powered by Open-Meteo. Pick a city or use rough IP-based location. Cached locally; no account needed.
• Mood check — a one-tap daily emoji log with a 7-day strip.
• Notes — a single scratchpad that autosaves to your browser.
• World clocks — track up to a few cities you care about, with smart day-offset markers.
WHAT IT WON'T DO
• No accounts, no logins, no telemetry.
• No remote loading of code. Everything runs from the installed extension.
• No background tracking — the extension only runs in the new tab page.
• Your Firefox default search engine isn't touched.
SEARCH DISCLOSURE
Searches typed into the Kick Off search bar are routed through kickoffsearch.com, which uses Yahoo search syndication to return results. Only the query you type is sent. We don't store, sell, or associate searches with your identity. If you'd rather use Firefox's built-in search, leave the Kick Off search bar alone and use the browser's URL bar as usual — Kick Off doesn't override it.
PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN ENGLISH
• "Read browsing history" — used to rank your shortcut tiles by recency and frequency. The list never leaves your browser.
• "Access recent browsing activity" (topSites) — fallback for the tiles when history is empty.
• "Store unlimited data on your device" (storage) — saves your preferences (theme, widgets, pinned tiles, notes, mood history) in browser-local storage only.
• Weather requires you to opt in to "open-meteo.com" and one IP-geolocation host. Nothing is requested until you click "Enable weather".
Made for people who want their new tab to feel like a deep breath, not a billboard.
