- Waardering: 4 van 5door element, 5 jaar geledenHow do I make it open a torrent with utorrent? I don't understand how to enter the application properly in the settings. I tried writing application/x-utorrent or application/utorrent, or application/x-µtorrent but it doesn't do anything... help! I still gave this a positive rating because this is a big problem in firefox and I want to see it supported! But it's not working for me, or I don't understand how to get it to work.

5 jaar geleden geplaatstHi element, first use the extension to define the Content-Type you want to use for the specific file extension. Then when Firefox shows the dialog to Open or Save, use the drop-down next to Open with to select the application you want to open the file.
If the torrents do not have a standard file extension, then a different method would be needed. You could post a question on Mozilla Support (https://support.mozilla.org/questions/new/desktop) or on Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/) for more specific advice. - Waardering: 4 van 5door FuzzysAudioVideo, 5 jaar geledenThis extension is exactly what I need for fixing some broken PDF download links on a vendor's website. Is there anyway to have this extension become enabled by default when launching Firefox, instead of requiring me to click the icon with each new session?

EDIT: thanx for your reply. yeah its about executable files. there used to be an extension called "download dialog tweaker" where u could tell ff to run/open those. i miss that.Antwoord van ontwikkelaar
5 jaar geleden geplaatstHi orange, what is the file extension? After you assign a suitable Content-Type, you should be able to instruct Firefox what to do with it in the Download dialog or on the Options page. However, there is an exception for executable file extensions like EXE. For EXE and other executable file extensions, Firefox will not show Open in the Download dialog, no matter what Content-Type you give them.
