Informazioni sull’estensione
Vancetope Capture saves the page you are reading into a link list on a Vancetope server that you run yourself.
There is no service of ours behind this. You enter your own server address and your own access token, and what you capture goes there and nowhere else. If you do not run a Vancetope server, this extension has nothing to connect to.
WHAT IT DOES
• Save a link — address and title, with a note, a group and tags.
• Save the page — as your browser rendered it. This is the part worth having: a page behind a login, behind a paywall or on an internal network is one a server cannot fetch by itself. This one can, because it uses the session you are already in.
• See whether the page you are on is already in your list, without leaving the page.
• Keep several destinations. A work list and a private list are two folders, and you pick one per capture.
WHAT FIREFOX ASKS YOU TO CONSENT TO
Firefox tells you what an add-on transmits before you install it. This one declares two things, and both of them are the capture itself:
• Website content — the page you save, as your browser rendered it.
• Browsing activity — the address and title of the page you save. The address is also sent when you open the popup, so it can tell you whether that page is already in your list.
Both go to your server and nowhere else. Nothing reaches us — there is no endpoint of ours involved at any point.
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
• It holds no standing permission for the pages you browse. A page is read through the browser's activeTab mechanism: your click on the toolbar button grants access to that one tab, for that one action.
• It registers no content script and runs no code in the background.
• No analytics, no advertising, no tracking.
BEFORE YOU INSTALL
You need a Vancetope server and a capture token from it. Both go into the extension's options. The token is pinned to one project and carries one capability — saving links — so it cannot be used for anything else on your server.
Vancetope is a personal project, not a commercial product: no support contract and no roadmap promises. The source is public, under the Business Source License 1.1.
