Tabby is a cat who lives in your toolbar. Your open tabs are stacked on her head. At four she is fine. At seven she is holding very still. At twelve she is under the pile and would like a word.

She is a nudge, not a lock. Tabby never closes a tab you didn't pick, and never interrupts a link you clicked.

What she does

• The toolbar badge is a mood ring — green, blue, amber, red — so you can see the state without opening anything.
• She reacts. Ears twitch, tail swishes, eyes blink. Past your limit she squashes, the stack leans, and a sweat drop appears.
• She talks, with a different line for every mood.
• Tap to pet her. Hearts, a purr, and a pet counter she is quietly proud of.
• Every tab in the list has a ✕. Past the limit, one tap shoos the whole overflow.
• Tapping a row jumps to that tab instead of closing it.
• Confetti and a little arpeggio when you get back under.
• A streak of tidy days, which going over ends.

When you go over

A small Tabby window appears in the corner with your quietest tabs and a ✕ beside each. She appears once per crossing, not once per tab, and not again for ten minutes. She closes herself when you are back under. You can turn it off.

Sounds

Purrs, pops and chirps, all synthesized by the browser with the Web Audio API. There are no audio files, nothing is downloaded, and it works offline. Sound plays only inside the popup on your own click, so nothing startles you from a background page.

Settings

Set the limit anywhere from 3 to 25. Count windows together or separately. Include or ignore pinned tabs. Turn sounds, the pop-out, and strict mode on or off.

Privacy

Tabby counts tabs. She stores your settings, your streak, and your pet count — locally, and nothing else. No URLs, no titles, no history, and no network requests at all.
