Heka Firefox Extension Privacy Policy
Purpose
This extension helps the Heka macOS app protect sensitive information in screen recordings that the user starts. The extension cannot start a recording.
Data processed
While a Heka recording is active, the extension may process the active page URL, visible page structure and content, form-field semantics, CSS geometry, page interactions, and document or tab boundaries. Editable form-control contents, passwords, and authentication values are withheld; the extension sends redacted semantics, value length, and render geometry instead.
Local transfer and retention
Browser messages are sent only to the Heka app on the same Mac through Firefox Native Messaging. The extension makes no web requests, contains no analytics or advertising client, stores no browser history, and does not retain browser payloads across background restarts.
Optional technical data
Device-pixel ratio, visual-viewport scale, timing quality, runtime heartbeat, and aggregate browser inventory are optional technical data. If the user declines or revokes this category, core browser protection continues and these optional fields are omitted.
Private browsing
Firefox private windows are inaccessible to the extension because the manifest declares incognito: not_allowed.
Any later upload of a recording is performed by the user-installed Heka app and is governed by https://useheka.com/privacy.
