Anchor Browser Extension Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 3, 2026
This policy supplements the global Anchor Privacy Policy and specifically addresses data usage regarding the Anchor browser extension for Firefox.
- Data Collection & Browsing History The Anchor extension replaces your "New Tab" page to display your personalized dashboard.
We do NOT collect your browsing history. Anchor does not passively track, record, or transmit the websites you visit.
Explicit Action Only: We only transmit URL and Title data to our servers when you explicitly use the "Save to Anchor" feature to add a specific bookmark or note to your dashboard.
- Browser Permissions Usage To provide the features described in our listing, the extension requires specific permissions. Here is how we use them:
"Replace the page you see when opening a new tab": Used solely to display the Anchor dashboard when you open a new tab.
"Access browser tabs" (activeTab): Used only when you click the extension icon to "Save" the current page. We access the title and URL of the active tab to save it to your account.
"Storage": Used to store your user preferences (e.g., theme settings, cached layout configuration) locally on your device to ensure the new tab loads instantly.
- Remote Data & Sync The extension acts as a client for the Anchor web service.
Authentication: When you log in, the extension utilizes a secure token (Firebase Auth) to sync your layout across devices.
- Third-Party Services
Firebase (Google): We use Firebase for secure authentication and database synchronization.
Paddle: If you purchase a subscription, payment processing is handled by Paddle. The extension itself does not process payment data.
