Stowspace browser extension - privacy policy

WHAT THE EXTENSION ACCESSES
The extension has no standing access to any website. It requests no host
permissions and registers no content scripts. When you click the toolbar
button, choose a context-menu item, or press Alt+Shift+S, the browser grants
temporary access to that one tab through the activeTab permission, and the
extension reads only that page.

WHERE YOUR DATA GOES
Captured pages, selections, and video links are passed to the Stowspace
desktop application running on the same computer, over a local Native
Messaging channel. The extension does not send page content to Stowspace
servers or to any third party. Your library is stored on your own device.
Content leaves your computer only if you separately enable paid cloud sync or
run a hosted AI action in the desktop application, both of which are governed
by the Stowspace privacy policy at https://stowspace.net/legal/privacy

WHAT IS STORED LOCALLY
Extension preferences (theme, most recently used collection and tags, and your
error-reporting choice) and a queue of saves made while the desktop
application was closed. The queue is cleared once those saves succeed, and you
can clear it yourself from the popup. No browsing history is recorded.

NETWORK REQUESTS
The extension makes one outbound request of its own. When you save a YouTube
video whose title the page has not yet populated, it asks YouTube's public
oEmbed endpoint for that title. The request is sent from the YouTube page's
own origin with no credentials and no referrer, is rate-limited and cached for
24 hours, and simply falls back to the page metadata if it fails. No other
service is contacted.

OPTIONAL ERROR REPORTING
Anonymous error reporting is off by default. If you enable it in the
extension's settings, crash reports are sent to Sentry. Before sending, URLs,
email addresses, file paths, and token-like strings are redacted, breadcrumbs
are removed, and no account identifier or page content is attached. You can
turn it off again at any time.

DATA SHARING
Stowspace does not sell or share your data. No advertising or analytics SDKs
are bundled in the extension.
