At last! Those infuriating sticky headers have ruined browsing on a laptop: you end up trying to peer through a narrow letterbox that is sometimes just 1/3 the height of your screen. On some shopping sites, you can only see half a garment or appliance at a time. Just downloaded this extension and it works brilliantly. Now I can see almost as much useful information on my screen as I could in the good old days when the internet was still a positive experience (late 90s, early 2000s). Thank you so much for this fantastic extension. You have made my day (probably my year)!

Very useful to hide distracting ui elements, especially on small displays.

Love this extension. I use it all the time, when it cleans up for sites that I have to disable AdBlock.

Would love to have a configurable hotkey.

UPDATE: Received an answering email -- thanks! I created a hotkey (Alt H) which works great. Can I add a sixth star? :)

Excellent!

Dev, Andrew: pls add a gitlab/hub/etc link so I can send patches to have this work on mobile firefox!

thank you!

So ergonomic, eliminating distractions. Thank you.

simple, effective

Simple and perfect!!! This and an ad blocker makes the internet a million times better! (Edit: Thanks for adding the keyboard shortcut)

It just works!

Click the button and away with those annoying fixed elements. Click again ... and back they are!

After many attempts with grease-monkey scripts and other add-ons this just works!

The only downside is that the last update is from 2018 ...don't know how long this add-on will keep working I just hope an update will follow when it stops working.

An underrated add-on in in my humble opinion.

I love having this added to my pc browser, it makes getting rid of stuck-on junk a simple task. I used to love it with my Android browser, until Mozilla screwed up a good thing. That's where I used it the most, where screen real estate is at a premium.

Would be nice to have the option to keep the element blocked every time I visit the page, and to turn it off too

Enhance your viewing pleasure and readability for any web page that requires scrolling: news sites, how-to pages, blogs, etc.
Annoying top-menu bars, footers, and side-nags ("like us, share us") are instantly banished. I also use Firefox F9 (reader mode), but often the loss of formatting is too great. This add-on is perfect, retaining text and layout formatting.

This works well but it's a bit annoying that it requires interaction.

Gets the job done. Source code is clean and to the point, nothing extraneous or out of the ordinary. Highly recommend this to get rid of annoying web content especially on certain blogging platforms.

So useful for making web pages readable, or getting rid of those annoying elements that move with the page as you scroll down.

Thanks Dev.

Very useful on websites with sticky headers and footers. By hiding those elements, you get more vertical space to read the main content.

This extension is perfect unless combined with Popup window, which leaves you with no way to click the toolbar icon. If you added a potentially optional right click context menu option this would be a 5 star hands down.

Playing with the two together a little more it's possible to merge the window and activate yours. But as soon as I popup the window again there is a lot of scrolling stutter. This problem goes away if I merge the window again and disable Hide Fixed Elements.

Still think it's awesome

that's definetively a must-have nowadays...

Perfect to hide those enormous windows that ask you to turn off adblock so that the adds on their website can redirect you to some shady "you won something" page (or, in alternative, the great "your phone has a virus and you have 25 seconds to download this file, otherwise it will self destruct").

The most useful add-on I have ever used in my smart phone browser. Could you please develop it with automatic operation on certain pages?
Some years later :-)
Could you please develop it for android now that the add-ons for android Firefox are available again?

It works really well on the websites where I usually need it. It would be great if the addon could remember certain sites, and also being able to select certains parts of the web. Nice Work!
