About this extension
Shorten the link to the page you're on with a single click — and it's already on your clipboard, ready to paste. No more opening tinyurl.com in a new tab, pasting, copying, and coming back.
Click the toolbar button and TinyURL (or is.gd) shortens your current tab's URL and copies the result automatically. Perfect for links that would otherwise wrap three times in a text message or break when sent from an email client.
Features
• Two services: TinyURL.com or is.gd — your choice.
• Shorten the current page, a URL you've copied, or a right-clicked link.
• Send To: open your chosen service's own page, with the URL already filled in, for custom aliases.
• Preview links: append a preview character so recipients see a preview page first.
• Use Shortest URL: if the original is already shorter, copy that instead.
• The toolbar icon always shows how it went, with an optional on-page message as well.
• Clear errors: if a service refuses a link or is having trouble, it tells you why instead of failing quietly.
• Create / Send To right-click (context menu) options.
• Optional TinyURL API key — add a token from your TinyURL.com account and links are created through your account, with click analytics in your dashboard. Applies to the TinyURL service; leave it blank to use the free service.
• A clean options page that follows your browser's light or dark theme.
Privacy
The only thing transmitted is the URL you choose to shorten, sent to the shortening service to create the link. Nothing is sent to the developer; there is no analytics or tracking. Your API token, if you add one, is stored locally and used only to communicate with TinyURL.
