About this extension

Sideview keeps the AI chat you already use open in Firefox's sidebar, so you can ask questions about what you are reading without switching tabs or losing your place.

Pick a provider and it stays beside every tab you open. Switch providers and each conversation is still there when you come back.

Works with the chat you use

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and other popular AI chat sites work straight after install. Hide the ones you don't use. The full list is at sideview.app.

No API keys, no extra account

Sideview uses the accounts you are already signed in to. The free version needs no Sideview account and contacts no server. It does not read the pages you visit or your conversations.

Sidebar that stays open across tabs
Toggle from the toolbar button or Alt+Shift+S
Start provider, light/dark theme, provider order and visibility
Sign-in hand-off: if a provider needs you to sign in, Sideview opens the sign-in page in a tab, then returns you to the sidebar signed in
Idle providers can be unloaded to save memory

Sideview Pro (optional subscription, $5 per month, cancel any time)

Send the page you are on, or the text you selected, to the chat
Right-click Summarize, Explain and Translate
Send a screenshot of the current tab to the chat
Command palette (Alt+Shift+K) to switch providers and run actions
Prompt library with fill-in blanks
Compare two or three providers with one question
Export a conversation as Markdown or PDF
Site rules: open a chosen provider on chosen sites

Pro tools run only when you use them. Page text and screenshots go into the chat you chose, never to Sideview.

Privacy

Sideview has no analytics. Your preferences stay in your browser. The extension contacts sideview.app only if you sign in for Pro, and only to ask whether your account has Pro.
